Brandon Marshall Plans to Catch 9 or 10 Passes a Game, Every Game This Year

Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall had a good season last year, starting all 16 games and catching 102 passes.

He won't start 16 games this year, but he plans to have a lot more than 102 catches.

Marshall says his goal is to catch 140 passes this season
. He's suspended for the season opener, which means that even if he plays all 15 games after his suspension, he would need to average 9.3 catches a game -- nine or 10 catches a game, every game, to reach his goal, which would be the second most prolific season in NFL history.

Can he do it? In a word, no. Last year Marshall had 11 catches in a game once, 10 catches twice and nine catches once. Those were his top four games, and they'd need to be his typical game for him to reach his goal in 2008. He's not going to do it.

Still, I like his moxie. No harm in setting high goals for himself. I'd also like to see him set a goal of zero arrests, which he's had trouble achieving so far in his NFL career.
