The Indianapolis Colts cut running back Kenton Keith as they trimmed their roster to the NFL-mandated limit of 53, and that wasn't a huge surprise: Keith obviously wasn't going to beat out Joseph Addai for the starting job, and the Colts had signed Dominic Rhodes to be Addai's backup. But I do find it surprising that Keith was unable to find another team that has an interest in him, and now he's considering a return to the Canadian Football League:
In an interview with Vancouver radio station CKNW, Keith's agent Jason Medlock said that he expects the former Saskatchewan Roughriders' standout to clear waivers today. When that occurs Medlock said he will explore all opportunities on both sides of the border.Keith carried 121 times for 533 yards last year. Obviously, it's easier to do that in an offense where Peyton Manning is the quarterback than it would be if Keith signed on with another team, but still: According to Football Outsiders, Keith was actually slightly more effective, on a per-play basis, than Addai was last year. Shouldn't there be a place for a guy like that in the NFL?
I think it should be. If Keith ends up back in the CFL, a whole lot of NFL general managers are making a mistake.

The sad thing is if Keith does come back to Canada it likely won't be with his 1st team of choice (The Lions) because B.C currently has a backlog at his position. It would be sad to see him forced to take a job in Winnipeg or something after the year he had.

Keith has to wait until week two if any NFL team brings him in. That is due to the injury settlement situation he had with the Colts upon his release (hip).
So he will probably wait until week two to sign a deal with either a CFL team (where his wife is from) or or an NFL team if there is any interest.
He has a huge deal on the table from Toronto, butit appears they have (somewhat) withdrawn. He apparently wants to go back to Saskatchewan (where he is still close with alot of his former Rider teammmates, and GM Eric Tillman)...but if he did it would have to be at a sorely reduced rate than what he would be asking.
BC has said "no". Edmonton is a possibility as well. Not sure if he is willing to take a bit less money for the contentment he seeks, but if he doesnt get an NFL deal within the week...expect a long term deal in Canada.
I would think a reduced salary this year to fit under the cap...then larger slaraies and kickers for teh next few years if so, in which her would retire in Canada. he appears content going abck and had alot of fun there, and made decent bit of $$$ ($115,000 in 2006, $370,000 with Colts in 2007).
