There is one truth that I think can be held self-evident for all eternity: if your professional football team signed Joey Harrington, you are in for a really, really rough year. Harrington has been a whipping boy and failure in both Detroit and Atlanta, the two biggest FAILs in professional football (or at least "arguably"). Now he joins the corps of crummy QBs that the Baltimore Ravens host.
Due to the current uncertainty with their quarterbacks, the Ravens brought in Harrington, Chris Simms (released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Todd Bouman (released by the Jaguars) for workouts Monday and decided to sign Harrington because he has the most recent playing experience.Seriously? Harrington outperformed anyone?
UPDATE: Florio is saying that this report is false. I sincerely hope so. Because, well ... SCOOOOOOP.
Fortunately the Ravens aren't totally hosed, as they're still going to be start Joe Flacco during the opener.
"It wouldn't be realistic to have one of those two guys as a starter, for sure. If they can back up, I think that would be an upset," coach John Harbaugh said Monday. And enter Joey. Still. Ravens fans ... you are one Joe Flacco pulled hammy or tweaked thumb away from seeing Joesph J. Harrington for the next few weeks. Because, regardless of how tough Flacco is, Baltimore isn't going to risk crushing his development or their future to force him in a game.
[...]"We need a backup quarterback for the game," Harbaugh said.

Bouman didn't play for the Skins. He did play well for the Jaguars against the Skins in the final preseason game this year. Rashad Bauman also played for the Skins for a while.

I know "Joey sucks". He didn't fixed the situation with the Lions, the Dolphins and the Falcons. In his defense those were the worst teams in football when he played for them. In fact the Lions and especially the Dolphins were worse when he left, ( the dolphins nearly went winless, the Falcons may also be worse the prediction is two wins). Joey will play hard, not be a head case and take a huge hit. He has taken some of the biggest hits in football in his NFL career and has never been injured. He can manage a game and play the position. He plays better when he isn't running for his life. I wish him and the Ravens well.
