Detroit Lions President Matt Millen has made a lot of stupid comments during his tenure leading the team, but this one may be the worst of them all.
Millen, who traded defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to the Cleveland Browns at the start of the NFL off-season, shared this opinion of the kind of season Rogers is likely to have:
"Mark my words: If Shaun Rogers is healthy, he'll be the NFL defensive player of the year.''Yes, that's what Millen thinks. The player he just traded away is going to be the best defensive player in the NFL this season. So why the hell did he trade Rogers for Leigh Bodden (who isn't even starting in Detroit) and a third-round draft pick?
Apparently, it's because Millen doesn't think Rogers is motivated enough. So here's a crazy idea: Hire coaches who can motivate him. Millen wouldn't think of that, which is why the Lions are about to begin their eighth straight losing season with Millen at the helm.

Finally, it all makes sense......I can only surmise that the Packers, Vikings, and Bears have all secretly chipped in to double whatever the Lions are paying Millen so he keeps making these decisions. Paying opposing GM's to lose is much easier than paying your own to win.

The key words in Millen's statement being "If he's healthy." He won't be. Rogers has a ton of talent, but he's incredibly lazy. This was a good trade.

hire the right coaches to motivate him......he is a grown man making millions of dollars to play a game that no one can get him motivated for hmmmm........ yeah i think it was a good trade the lions took one lazy player and were able to add depth at defense. rogers is a talented player that uses it until he gets bored or winded and the same thing will happen in cleveland.
