The Jim Zorn era officially begins on Thursday, when the Redskins face the Giants in the regular-season opener. Despite a shiny, new offense and a retooled roster that includes a less insane punter, Washington has struggled on both sides of the ball during the preseason. The team traded for Jason Taylor after Phillip Daniels was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Taylor would later injure his knee in the 'Skins' third preseason game and now it looks like he won't be available for Week 1.
Jason Taylor, who is out with a sprained knee/bone bruise, worked before practice with trainers but did nothing on the practice field. He, too, seems unlikely to play, but Zorn said the team will evaluate him right up through Thursday's warm-ups before making a final call. "Based on today, there's no way, but that's going to be a game-time decision." ...Told ya. More proof that God has something against Dan Snyder: No. 2 wideout Antwaan Randle El has a broken bone in his left hand. He'll play against the Giants, however, but will have to wear a protective brace. That should hinder his ability to catch the ball.
Washington spent their first three draft picks on skill position players -- specifically, pass catchers -- but Devin Thomas has been underwhelming, and Malcolm Kelly, who scared a lot of teams off prior to the draft because of his bad knees and peculiar habit of blaming others, was apparently very close to landing on injured reserve.
Instead, both he and Thomas are on the final 53, even though Zorn admits that neither will contribute early in the season. Which means that the Redskins have just three wide receivers on the active roster, and that includes a one-armed Randle El and James Thrash. Yikes.

Yea the redskins do have some problems with depth..but really? "less insane punter"..oh do you mean the Ray Guy awardist Durant Brooks who outplayed four year redskin veteren Derrick Frost..and yea both rookie wideouts were a dissapointment this preseason..but its the preseason..come on you cant go rambling on how bad they will be until a good half season has gone by...also they were both the #1 and #2 wide receviers in the draft...lastly Antwaan Randle El did break his finger..so what?..there have been plenty of receivers who have played with broken fingers and still been fully cabable of catching the ball just fine....also James Thrash has been a very well receiver for the past couple of years..i dont understand the "yikes" comment..Thrash has stepped up as a backup for Moss and proved that he can still be a good guy to throw to.

I think the real 'yikes' here, is that Marcus Mason was cut...but we kept 10 defensive linemen. Quick solution to the woes we saw for us in the last 2 preseason games.....Jason Campbell needs to be shown the door. Enough is enough. But no, he will lead us through another year, holding the ball too long, and then throwing it away. Hearing the coach then praise him for 'getting rid of the ball when he needs to', is like praising a criminal for turning himself in; he is still a criminal. Maybe if Jason Campbell just opened his other eye, he might see people breaking open. Some one tell him he has two of them.
