Imprisoned former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick filed for bankruptcy last month, and there was a widespread assumption that it was his dog fighting activities and subsequent imprisonment that were responsible for him going broke. But ESPN legal analyst Lester Munson has reviewed Vick's case and discovered that in reality, Vick had thrown away millions of dollars through bad decisions and poor investments even before his guilty plea last year, and he might very well be facing bankruptcy anyway.
"Even without the dogfighting case, Michael had been the victim of some very flawed advice by a number of professionals who were supposed to know what they were doing and were supposed to be helping him," observed Peter Ginsberg, the nationally renowned bankruptcy lawyer who is trying to preserve what little remains of Vick's net worth.Vick was quite clearly not capable of managing the millions of dollars that he suddenly had at age 20. Jemele Hill writes on her blog that Vick displays an inability to think on an adult level, and that sounds about right. Vick got himself into this position, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't feel a little sorry for him.

Don't kid yourself he liquidated everything and gave it to his relatives to hold on to. Not thinking at an adult level has nothing to do with it and is a poor assessment of this case. Vick knew what he was doing and you're just making excuses for him.

Michael Vick was a victim of having too much money at such a young age and having the maturity to seek good financial advisors to help him manage his money.

And those of us who love animals are left to pay for the poor dogs he brutalized. Vick is a sorry excuse for a human being. I pray he never get to play fottball again. He doesn't deserve the millions and worse, to be idolized by kids.

I agree with you 100%. If he is allowed to play ball again what does that say to others. Maybe someone should put him in a ring of the dogs that he abused and let them (the dogs) be Vicks judge and jury.

Vick deserves to be put through what he did to those dogs. And he should not be allowed to play ball again.

Vick from da hood, same one I'm from. Dog fightin' is more common then think. Those dogs were originally bred to fight BULLS(bullbaiting)!! And you people single Vick out when "you" created this breed of dog to ENTERTAIN urselves back in that time. Is a new time, a new day. Find something better to do with your time, like why they still letting R.Kelly walk the streets.
