Even Before Dog Fighting Case, Michael Vick Had Blown His Millions

Imprisoned former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick filed for bankruptcy last month, and there was a widespread assumption that it was his dog fighting activities and subsequent imprisonment that were responsible for him going broke.

But ESPN legal analyst Lester Munson has reviewed Vick's case and discovered that in reality, Vick had thrown away millions of dollars through bad decisions and poor investments even before his guilty plea last year, and he might very well be facing bankruptcy anyway.
"Even without the dogfighting case, Michael had been the victim of some very flawed advice by a number of professionals who were supposed to know what they were doing and were supposed to be helping him," observed Peter Ginsberg, the nationally renowned bankruptcy lawyer who is trying to preserve what little remains of Vick's net worth.
Vick was quite clearly not capable of managing the millions of dollars that he suddenly had at age 20. Jemele Hill writes on her blog that Vick displays an inability to think on an adult level, and that sounds about right. Vick got himself into this position, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't feel a little sorry for him.
