You know how there is always a movie where some guy just has bad luck and no matter what he does ... it isn't as good as someone else close to him?Imagine Giants' quarterback Eli Manning. Dude just won a magical Super Bowl in the NFL's biggest market and he won't be the QB with the most attention in his home stadium! Brett Favre is a New York Jet and will get tons more coverage and attention from everyone than Eli.
Never mind that the last time either player was on the field, Favre threw a season-killing interception against Eli's Giants ... while Eli led an amazing drive to pull off one of the greatest Super Bowl upsets.
Good thing it is Eli since this just adds to his already "Charlie-Brown" life.
We've known that about Eli for a while. No matter what he does, he will always be known as Peyton Manning's brother. Yes, he has led his team to a Super Bowl (more recently than Peyton, I might add). Yes, he won a Super Bowl MVP award. Still, Peyton is walking on the yellow brick road to Canton, Ohio while there are people still wondering if Eli can put together just one great season.
Even in that Super Bowl, the play that will live on forever will be most remembered for David Tyree's amazing catch. The fact that Eli got out of that mess in the backfield and had the stones to even throw that pass isn't as interesting as Tyree's catch.

I completely disagree about the Tyree catch. In every interview Eli receives a great deal of praise for his amazing escape and throw. People will remember the entire play. Personally I don't think he would've received the same huge response after the Superbowl if it wasn't for that throw, even if the Giants still won. If Eli didn't escape the defense, there would be no Tyree catch. Now Favre being in NJ playing on the same field? Sorry Eli, you're gonna have to work twice as hard to keep the attention on you.

I tell you it is great news;let the Giants tenants and their prima donna QB get all the attention (and distractions) and Eli and the Giants just play baby.

It seems to me that Eli is a good ole country boy that could give a rat's ass about the spot light or public acclaim. He is the well-adjusted baby brother that is just happy doing what he is doing....playing QB for the G-men and being newly married. Let Favre be the story for most of the season while Eli just goes along compiling a nice 10-6 playoff-bound record based on mediocre statistics and improbable plays here and there that add up to a very good season. If the team stays healthy and jells at the right time like last year, a repeat is possible. If not, we still have an enjoyable season as last year's super bowl champions. I think Eli is just the right guy for us life-long blue collar Giants fans!

Yeah, doesn't seem to me that Eki is about the attention anyway. The whole team took on the "OK to be the underdog" persona last year.

You can't possible limit yourself to one sports story in the NY market. The media will eat up anything thrown its way. The A-ROD Madonna thing is so 5 minutes ago. Lets hope Brett can face all the attention. There's no place to hide in this city.
