The Tampa Tribune is reporting on its front page in today's edition that Brett Favre is on the verge of being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The paper reports that it is very likely that the trade will take place today.
There is no word on what kind of compensation the Packers would get for trading Favre. It is also not clear what would become of Buccaneers starter Jeff Garcia, who is coming off a season in which he completed 63.9 percent of his passes, with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions.
But, from the Tampa Tribune's report, one way or another we could see Favre in Bucs training camp this week.

Brett Favre -BOYCOTT LAMBEAU
What's going on with the Packer Organization and Brett Favre is really upsetting to me. I can't sleep tonight because of it. Some would say "That's ridiculous, it's only football". But it's not just football to me. It's about family traditions that I had growing up and have started with my own children. It's about ties that bind.
For almost 20 years, I was a Packer Fan when they lost season after season and I was PROUD to call myself a CheeseHead Packer Fan. HECK! I went on my honeymoon to Lambeau (seriously). During the Favre years, it was like riding the gravy train, getting to root for the greatest team with the greatest fans in the whole world -while they were winning! But today... is a different story.
Today, I am sick. I am ashamed and I am dismayed. I am wondering if they make a Paperbag Cheesehead.
I was at family night, there were probably 40,000 4 Jersies, not what the sportscasters are telling you. We LOVE Brett Favre and he deserves all the respect in the world. He brought more to this organization as far as respect, honor and not to mention REVENUE than all the current and former players combined. If he says they're lying - they are. Everyone knows he's a stand up guy and stand up guys DON'T LIE. Ted Thompson is an egomaniac and the asswipe should be ran out of dodge. But how do we do that?
BOYCOTT LAMBEAU -not the bars and restaurants around it. JUST the FIELD itself. It's unheard of. Lambeau field being EMPTY????? But it's the only clear message that we can send.
See, Sunday there were thousands of us waiting to protest for Favre's return and just when everyone was leaving their homes for the game...guess what! They called him back - the Protest turned into a "Victory Celebration" and a crisis for the Pack was averted.
Well, my kids and I stood calling for Brett's return to QB and Ted Thompsons head but most people were just cheering because they had been dooped.
I was planning on buying 12 tickets to the Packers/Colts game in October but NO MORE. I will go and watch the game at Curly's but I won't set foot on that sacred ground while they continue to defile it.(cheesy, I know. but that's what I am= a CHEESEHEAD through and through - the cheesiest!)
BOYCOTT LAMBEAU.

What most people dont know if Ted Thompson has been pressuring Brett to retire for the past 4 years. I cant help but wonder how folks would react if your boss was hovering over your shoulder asking every month.....are you leaving (aka retiring) yet???? Makes you wonder where the respect and love is from your management...
I agree with MJ.....Someone needs to give Thompson 20 million to leave Green Bay..and take his flunky McCarthy with him.

MJ you are SO RIGHT! Everyone I know in southeastern Wisconsin is on board with all of your comments! Ted Thompson's ego has ruined this great franchise, which used to be unique in this league. We agree--in the last decade and a half, we have become Favre fans--and after all of this--we are Packer fans no more!!! Boycott Lambeau!

Maybe instead of wearing a paperbag cheesehead; Packers/Favre fans could send packets of Limburger cheese to the Packers front office.
Just like the way they are working the whole thing out, it really stinks.

Well said, M.J.
I don't think you should underestimate the power of the internet.
The media conglomerates such as ESPN want to put a positive spin onthis, because they have a vested interest in the NFL and a boycott of Lameau would not be good for the NFL obviously. It could cause blackouts in the T.V. market and lots of money loss. It is not likely, but it is possible. I could be wrong on that, but that's my understanding of NFL games.
Now, bringbratbrettfavre.com obviously did not work, but a boycott Lambeau just may have an impact.
I just don't get it why Brett is not welcomed back. There is
obviously something more than just "Ted Thompson is an asshole".
There's something else that has been going on here.
I'm also curious as to how the Packers are a publicly owned team, yet their beloved icon in Brett Favre is being shown the door. How is
this so?

Hi:
Great comments. If you carefully listen to Brett's interview in March he didn't say he didn't want to play football, he said he didn't know if he could do it in Green Bay - I think he knew then that McCarthy, et al, didn't want him and they weren't going to let him play.
As long as Brett Farve is in Green Bay, the Packers are his team. McCarthy didn't "coach" Farve, to claim he did is wrong. McCarthy did what Farve wanted done. Brett Farve for all practical purposes was both the leader, the quarterback, the go-to guy and the coach.
The only way McCarthy could ever say the Packers were "his" team, that he "was the coach," was to get rid of the "true" coach. So now the Packers have a "rookie" coach, a "rookie" quarterback, and "ignored" fans.
For one, I'm glad Farve pushed the envelope and exposed McCarthy's dishonesty. I'm just sorry that McCarthy is the one to stay in Green Bay.

From one cheesehead to another cheesehead, I totally understand where your coming from, but remember Favre came back to a job that was already given to someone else thinking he could have it anytime he wanted. How would you feel if you worked hard everyday behind someone for years, and then your day finally came and you were promoted because your boss retired and your company saw all the hard work you put in and they saw that you knew your stuff, so you go out and celebrated with your family and friends and your so proud because of all the hour you put in to get the promotion, and then you got demoted because this person was coming back, (and he's not coming back to work for the company, he's coming back to take your job) What would you think of that person. I don't know how you would feel but I would be pissed... Also I'm not going to lose all my values because of one person or a group of people and if for some reason I did lose all my values because of one person or persons, what is that saying about me and/or my values, (not much) Get rid of Favre and lets move on like we were going to in the first place.

This crap is really old. Favre retired therefore the organization moved on. Next thing you know his name is no longer in the news all the time so guess what?? He is unretired and expects Green Bay to just dump their move on plans to let him back. Sorry but time for him to get a grip and move on already. He seems to thrive on attention and look at what he gets. Move on Favre as you have caused enough headache for people.

I am a die hard Vikings fan. I even respected Favre and what he did and who he WAS. Yes its sad to see old traditions die and legends disappear. It's easy to blame management for treating this legend so poorly but that's not the case here. If Favre didn't retire and the Packs did this then the Packer fans should be upset and boycott. But this guy QUIT for cripes sake. This is the legends bed and no one elses. Seems Favre has a minor mental illness issue and a bi-polar swing made him think he could re-live his glory days. He woke up and missed those highs. But he QUIT. This is not the Packs management fault. They'd even agree had he not quit and kept his level headed head in the game he'd be starting again. Favre wake up - you are acting like a frickin nut case. You have a legacy to worry about and this isn't helping.

the packers did the right thing for the growth and future of the organization and its cheese-heads. the bucs on the other hand, if rumors are correct, will be facing what has become gruden's legacy of annual, seasonal changes that will most likely produce another annual, seasonal set-back on the road to returning to the super bowl. i love my buc's, but instead of looking for that almighty miracle pie in the sky, somebody upstairs needs to be looking for a new coach.

Stand up guys don't lie? How about saying "I don't have it in me anymore" and then a few months later "Oops! I guess I do!"
Favre is a crybaby and I'm glad finally someone stood up to him. He's not bigger than the team. He shouldn't get special treatment. And he needs to realize that when you make a decision and then change your mind, sometimes there are consequences.

This one is from a Packer fan from across the ocean and Brett is the one that made me love this game the way that i do and belive me it's tough to see games in an Eastern European country where Soccer rules.
The thing that i hate most about this whole thing is the way the front office treated Brett not just this off season but since Ted Thompson took control. Don't get me wrong I believe that he and the organization has done a great job drafting and spotting young talent and it shows with the young gifted team that we have right now. But in regards to Brett i feel that he's behaved like the new kid in high school that fears he'll get his ass kicked. All he did with Brett was trying to alienate him and make him look bad since he was the face of the franchise so none would blame TT when Brett got kicked out. Well guess what Ted .... you won't get any love from Packers fans for what you did to someone that has bled for us for 16 years and got the organization you now run where it is right now...at the top
P.S. Is there any way we can send Ted Thompson to the Buccs/Vikings/anyone.... instead of Brett .... we'll even give them a conditional 4th round draft pick depending on how bad he screws up their franchise

I agree, Farve to me is Packer Football. If the Packers are NOW working on defense in 2008 look what that would have done for 2007. Wait until TT gets rid of Brett and then build a defense. I agree with you 100%.
