Via PFT comes this report from NFL Network's Adam Schefter, who says retired/un-retired QB Brett Favre is going to retire again.
Schefter reports that Favre is leaning toward accepting the marketing and licensing deal (also known as a "bribe") the Packers offered him. Fittingly, there's this:
Schefter points out that the decision isn't final, and that it could change and has changed already. As of right now, however, Favre's inclination is to take the money and not run.ESPN's Ed Werder said earlier today that Favre was leaning toward rejecting the deal and showing up at training camp upon reinstatement from the commissioner.
Such is life for this drawn-out soap opera.
At some point, someone needs to make a decision. Either the Packers must trade or release Favre, or Favre needs to stop being this wishy-washy about retirement.
In his 17-year career, Favre has never been openly about the money. The fact that he's even considering taking this deal shows me that he just isn't sure what he wants to do.
Meanwhile, the Packers are sure. They're sure they want to move into the 2008 season with Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback. No flip-flopping going on there.

I think this would be a weak play from Favre. As a former athlete - D3 REPRESENT! - I'd play in the CFL for another shot. I'd play for free.
In this scenario...
I'd go to camp for the Packers. I'm Brett Favre, a super bowl champ and the only 3 time MVP in the HISTORY of the NFL. I'd make them trade me to the Vikes, or I'd be the starting QB for Green Bay. If neither of those was an option, I'd take a dump on the 50 yard line every day of training camp after calling a new press conference. Case Solved.
Drink UP!

No because the Skins already have Jason Cambell, then Todd Collins, then Colt Brennen.......I dont think they will sign a 4th QB although I think he would be a great upgrade for them..........I want him back to the Pack

I think Favre thinks he is the center of the universe....He is so full of himselfand thinks everyone need to pay attention to him...I just hope that on his day at the HALL of FAME that there is some BIG BABY who has to have all the attention and take it all away from this MORON..and oh by the way he only has ONE ring. If he dosnt watchit the big baby is gona distance himself from the fans of football, faceit the guy is nothing more then a FLAKE. if he could havit his way he would have the Superbowl named after him. BRETT GO AWAY AND STAY AWAY. The sun will still come up in the morning without you in football

All you people getting on favre........The packers are the ones in the wrong and messing him around........It's not about the money....The man wants to play......Understand......But if they wont let him play or trade him (I dont think favre is asking much).....Than why shouldnt he take the money maybe. The packers are the ones playing hardball.....Not favre......Evidently the packers are scared of playing against there own EX QUARTERBACK. That what they seem to be saying being scared of just trading him. I'm or was a packers fan......I hope they get clobbered this yr for the way they handling this case. And they probably will.

Gary I wholeheartedly agree with you. I was going to write in but you said everything i was going to say almost. I hope he tells them to take their 20 million and shove it. If he does take it, as a fan, I will kind of feel like he let us faithful Farve fans down. Besides, how can he now rah rah the Packers after what they have done to him. On another subject, do you know of any site on the internet where one can contact people who are in a fantasy football league and may have an opening in their league? No openings in leagues I have contacted here. In am in the Milwaukee area.

I will lose alot of respect for Brett Favre as he should take this as an insult for it is not about money, it's about his love for playing football, but apparently it shows that he can be bought off and he'll lose alot of fans and will tarnish his reputation. I hope he doesnt take it and would love to see him play for the Vikings, Jets, or Bucs, but i really hope he doesnt take this bribe, im sorry, buyout.

If he takes the money and becomes their "boy," then it was all BS and he's a punk. I thought the comeback was about wanting to still play the game.....or is the game with the fans

I am sure Brett Favre would love to play football again with another team besides the Packers. $20 million dollars to stay home is a tempting offer for Brett to say goodbye to football for good. Stay tuned for Brett's next move.

Well, here we are in hot Arizona with not much excitement brewing for our season. The Cardinals brought in USC phenom, Matt Leinhart, who after a few games was injured in 2006. So back up, veteran, Kurt Warner took the ball.
Last year we didn't even get as far... Matt's hurt, Kurt's hurt...and it's still 100 degrees, so it must have been about week four. Fan's are steamed and hurting.. Lots of hype for a college player who did beat my Sun Devils in Pac-10 play, but NFL is another story.
Think again, PACKERS!!! You have a guy who can play. You have a guy who can lead. He can fill seats; He can sell jerseys.
I'll even wear one. He took his team to double OT in a frozen field.. in the playoffs.. He has unfinished work to do and I'd like to see him try. And, he doesn't have crazy parties that make the youtube or a B-rated celeb girlfriend who distracts him.
Lots of players retire early and then want to come back. But, why is it that the best in the sports... have to have management issues, that often dim their team player briliance
Tom Seaver with the NY Mets, and others... had similar issues?
Let's learn from this. Do you want Matt Leinhart for Favre?
We'll trade ya!

If we could really see what is going on, we would probably find that Brett's agent is the one pushing him to reactivate. After all, if Brett retires, this agent loses a nice income source.
Like most of life, to understand what is going on, you have to follow the money trail.

The Packers with Farve would be a super bowl favorite, but with Rogers they wi8ll stink up the division. I hope Farve comes back and stick it to them. He is only 38, and he has a lot of football in him. He loves the game to much to quit. I can't believe anyone took him serious when he said he was quitting. They were my team for 34 years, but now I will root against them this year/

I am all for Farve playing with the Packers this year and now dislike the management. He definitely has the upper hand right now as to his destiny. I just hope he doesn't sell out for the supposedly $20 million. His loyal fans won't like this and this will not sit well with the Farve "go away" people either. A nice solution could have been Farve being the main quarterback but have Rogers have so much playing time during the game. That way Farve could teach Rogers this year. If would give Rogers actual game playing experience to be real sharp for next year. Oh well it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Does anyone in the Milwaukee or Waukesha County Wisc. area have an opening in a fantasy football league? Would like to join....if so e-mail me...thank you

Bruce, Schefter is wrong in his 'so called' report. Brett want's to PLAY FOOTBALL! Not the 'Price Is Right!' Keep taking it to them Brett. Your tenacity will pay off when this debacle is over!
