Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy is in Mississippi this morning in a last-ditch effort to convince Brett Favre not to report to training camp."They're asking him not to come up there," a source told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "They don't want him up there."
FlightAware.com lists a private jet as having left the Green Bay airport at 9:33 last night and arrived at the Hattiesburg, Mississippi airport at 11:34.
Favre faxed a letter to the league office yesterday, seeking reinstatement. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will grant his reinstatement today or tomorrow, and then the Packers have to either cut Favre, trade Favre or allow Favre on their active roster -- unless they can convince him to say home, which they're desperately trying to do.

Stick it to Green Bay Brett! They're assholes. So scared of 'one man' to be the single guy that will ruin their team........(dumb assess).
If the Packers had any brains, guts, and heart, they would cut Favre and let him play wherever he wants........period! If it should be the Vikings, 'WHO CARES!' Are the packers THAT SCARED?! What a bunch of cry babies........

Your exactly right!!!! The man gave them so much and to try and take him out of the game is stupid! I think if Rodgers is thier man ( as a loyal Packers fan I think this is a bad decision) then die with him. If Brett wants to wear purple for a couple years then let him! It's like you say, he's only one player ( a great one, but only one) and won't change football forever, but putting him in purple would give peterson and taylor a chance to run forever. So show a little bit of class Greenbay and let him play!!!!

People change their minds, it is their preogitive. However in your case Brett . Did you NOTt know you had any or no intention of ever playing again, we all knew your body was not finished, you could play?. Why a intellegent Quarterback as you where , and are, can leave before your time. I can`t fathom. Of course, Mike Jordan did the same. This is America, or home of the free. Your decision Brett. Your call & your family. I will not Judge. Welcome Back Brett.

The packers front office has to be the most incompetent group I've ever seen. Put the MVP under center and tell junior he'll just have to wait.

Well Brett doesn't want to retire. He will not start for GB ever again. He will play somewhere. Does it really scare GB that much that he play in their division. Show some balls and release him, or trade him for a second round pick. Let him go.
Aaron Rodgers is a better qb anyhow. Remember the Dallas game. Mr. Favre got beaten down and he took himself out of the game. Rodgers came in and played very well against the same guys who pounded on Favre. Just sayin'.

JUST LET THE MAN PLAY!!!!!!!!
is that so hard?? He's a fricken LEGEND!
hes an awesome quarterback, check his stats.
He was confused when he "retired", he just wasnt ready to do it, he didnt want to give up a sport he loved playing.
Because once you retire, FOR GOOD, there's no goin back.
And he caught his mistake. Just let him play.
The Packers are assholes (NFLinsider) and they're giving up an awesome quarterback, for Aaron Rodgers, yuck.

I think Brett Favre wants to be the Green Bay quarterback and the general manager. The NFL is nothing more than a big buisness and Green Bay who is a member just happens to own a peice of inventory named Brett Favre. Green Bay will sell him to the highest bidder. They also know his value is much less than what it use to be since his prime is in the past. I don't think he has realized that yet.

It was just a year or so ago Mr. Favre was thinking of retiring and everyone in packerland was tring to keep in for one more year. He did stay, and again setting new records everyweek of the season. Thank you for that. But, a man that has done nothing his whole live but the one thing he loved and wanted to do ,play football. It's hard to stop. Sure at the end of the year cold, tired, beat up, thinking of all the mistakes you made and why you couldn't get back in the big game. You want to get out. But, something happens in the spring of every year. Your pain is gone from the previous year and you want to play.... you know nothing else but the thrill of compitition and wanting it.... Mr. Favre thanks for the memories and being the packers center for so long. If, you want to play and i would have to agree that green bay isn't where you should end our years. gGo somewhere warm where the weather would bother you as much. Tampa Bay and ride a helicopter from home to game day. Have fun with it. But, the pack has to look further than maybe one more year. I hope they are building a new destiny to grow in years to kept up with yours. You have set the standard. Thanks again, and i will always wear your number as a packer no matter who you play for. thanks again

could you imagine all of the cannons firing off in tampa...the roar of the crowd cheering for favre...the energy drive and excitement that propells a team to the playoffs....hmmm if the packers dont want him that much then why not? I'll always be a packer fan and favre has made it so special for all of us to share. This is just one vivid image that may happen. I wish the organization at gb would play him and not treat him as a caged animal. He's too good for that. Keep our fingers crossed.

If I were the Packer brass I would release Brett Favre from his contract and let him for another team even if it the Minnesota Vikings. Brett said goodbye in March and even though he didn't file his papers with the league at the time the Packer brass should have just assumed Brett was retiring and if he changed his mind and wanted to be released and then get grant him his wish and the Wide World Of Brett Madness would end.

First off, everybody seems to assume that Favre will be the starter wherever he goes. He has to compete for the starting position.
Great quarterbacks are mage by great teams. I guess none of you remember his debacle in Atlanta. He was a deadhead quarterback of a deadhead team. Move him to Green Bay with receivers and an offensive line and all of a sudden he is "great". The team made him great.
If you look back at all the "great" quarterbacks, they had great teams to support them. Support that isn't acknolwdged enough.

I played college football with Mark Murphy, and I can assure anyone that Mark Murphy has way too much intelligence, character, and mental toughness to beg anyone regarding any issue. My expectation is that Murph had an appropriate discussion with Favre...with the clear understanding that it is Favre who has been selfish and inconsistent for at least the last three years during his time with the Packers. Favre may have some legitimate beefs regarding the Packers' management before Murph joined the Packers, but Favre is not without integrity faults himself. I remain a Mark Murphy fan...he would beg no one.

Guys like Vince Lombardi and Bart Star and Brett Farve made what the Greenbay packers are today. Guys like Mark Murphy can only destroy the legacy of Greenbay. If they continue the issue, Greenbay will never be a factor again in the NFL. The legacy is lost, forever. Murphy, is nobody and will lose his position. But the legacy will be gone forever. Greenbay fan living in Arizona. Nfl sells in Greenbay will vanish. I seen the same happen before. God bless the corporate environment, as they kill the world. Why give up two/three years due to stupidity. Greenbay fan no more.

Brett Favre should be PISSED!! He is being treated as though he lives in Russia! The GB 'Russia' organization and the 'Russian' president, NFL Goodell are holding Brett hostage and doing whatever they can to convince Brett to stay retired and take their bribes.........PATHETIC! If Brett falls for this and doesn't fight on to play, then welcome to the new world order of the NFL. Russia tactics used.(no free USA country).

THE PACKER PLAYER'S SHOULD TAKE MARK MURPHY OUT IN A DARK ALLY AND BEAT HIM FOR MAKING THEM LOOK LIKED SCARED LITTLE GIRLS THAT ARE WORRIED THAT BRETT FAVRE WILL BEAT THEM BY PLAYING WITH THE VIKINGS. THAT IS PATHETIC! (HEY BRETT, WHAT'S IT LIKE TO BE LABELED AS A FOOTBALL GOD BY THE PACKER ORG.?? THE ENTIRE ROSTER ARE 'SCARED LITTLE GIRLS' THAT ARE OWNED BY A SCARED RUSSIAN WOMAN) MARK MURPHY IS A SPINELESS EMPTY SUITE. THE 'ONLY' THING MURPHY CAN BE PROUD OF IN HIS LIFE IS HIS MONEY........AND THAT'S IT!! NOT HIS PACKERS.........THEIR SPINELESS SCARED LITTLE GIRLS LIKE THEIR MOTHER, 'RUSSIAN MURPHY.'

Being a lifelong Wisconsin resident as well as a huge Brett Favre fan, I feel the front offices in G.B. really have made a circus out of all this. Havent any of you nay sayers ever retired from your regular 9-5 jobs, then after a few boring months off decided to return to a working life?? People retire and return to the working pool everyday and its a pity that (argueably) the best QB that ever graced Lambeau field hasnt really been given that same option. If he wants to play either play him or trade him.....dont be afraid of the Vikings getting what they need for a play-off contention....a strong QB....be more afraid of Aaron Rodgers getting injured early on and THEN having to scramble to find a second rate QB to try to pick up the pieces. I think a man that gives you a super bowl victory, takes you there twice and in his last playoff takes you one game away from the big one again at least deserves the respect from this organization that hasnt been shown. Come on Ted and Mark.....sh*t or get off the pot for crying out loud.....argggggggggggggg!!!!!!
