Green Bay Packers players are supposed to report to training camp on Saturday and conduct their first practice on Sunday. So will Brett Favre be there?Adam Schefter of NFL Network says he will be. According to Schefter, Favre told Packers general manager Ted Thompson on Thursday that he is planning to return to report. Just before he reports, he will fax a letter seeking reinstatment to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and that's all the paperwork he needs to rescind his tearful March retirement.
After that, the Packers' choices are either cut Favre, trade Favre, or add Favre to their roster. What will they do at that point? Who knows? Some people think he'll get traded to the Bucs, other people think he'll stick with the Packers, at least at first. The only thing we know for sure is the training camp soap opera isn't going away after this weekend -- it's just getting started.

It's simple. If Ted Thompson wants to do his job and win this year while they've got a window, he puts his ego aside and welcomes back Favre.

BRETT FAVRE IS A WINNER! IF THE PACKERS WANT TO WIN THIS YEAR...AND MAYBE NEXT YEAR--THEY WILL STICK WITH FAVRE!!! WHY END THE FAVRE ERA PREMATURELY---FOR ROGERS??? WHAT HAS ROGERS EVER DONE---EXCEPT GET INJURED TWICE???
SURE, THE 49'ERS GOT RID OF MONTANA, BUT THEY HAD STEVE YOUNG TO GO TO, WHO WAS ALREADY AN EXPERIENCED QB (ANOTHER HALL OF FAME QB)!
ROGERS IS NO STEVE YOUNG!!!
THE PACKERS NEED TO STICK WITH BRETT THIS YEAR AND HOPEFULLY NEXT YEAR TOO(IF HE PLAYS WELL THIS YEAR-WHICH IS CERTAINLY EXPECTED).

Just retire and be done. I not only loved watching Brett play the game, but I respected him as a person. Now I have lost some of my respect for him. I thought his loyalty would hold true! I guess I was wrong.

Geezzzzz! Let the guy play football if he wants to! My Lord, who the heck are you guys to tell him to stop? It's simple, play him or trade him. I also agree that if the Packers want to win now/this season, Favre should be their guy behind the wheel. If the team is looking beyond this next season then, Rodgers is the guy because he will NOT be there once his contract is up in 09 if he doesn't get the start.

Brett you have lost my respect by not sticking to your decision. It is time to let football go - you said so in your retirement speech. Were the tears real or fake? Are you for real or are you a fake.
I used to watch the Green Bay Packers game to watch you play. Lets face it the last couple years haven't been the greatest. If you want to be around football why not help your hometown school football teams. They could learn a lot from you and they would respect you and be happy to be around you.
Grow up and be a man of your word!

Piss off Joyce! He has EARNED the right to come back. He played for how many consecutive games? He played hurt, he played when his father passed, he played every moment for 17 years! You shut your pie hole and let the men decide what happens next! Damn - you sound like a frickin Grandma.

Alright.......I've changed my mind on this one. I really want to see that selfish me-first guy back in uniform for the Packers so I can pull for him to get his ass handed to him every Sunday. Then he will finally realize just how lucky he was to get as far as he got last season. I just wish he could spare all of us those tearful waterfall press conferences because it just doesn't work anymore. Favre has taken a stellar HOF career and really tainted the final chapter. Even though I'm not a Packer fan, I cannot believe how I used to pull for and admired this clown. He has totally lost it. C'mon Brett......I can't wait!!!

If Brett wants to play he should play. All these stupid fans think that he plays for them. He plays because he likes too just like when he was 8 years old.
He has handled it badly but so has the Packers. Their ego has got in the way of winning. They are choosing an inexperienced QB over a legend coming off of an All-Pro season.
In all the years I played sports the basic concept was the best players starts. You earn the position in sports you can't just give someone a position.

Maybe if the press & everyone else hadn't been asking him for last 3 yrs if this was the year he was going to retire, he would have taken more time to think about it. No athlete should be allowed to retire within 6 mos of the end of the season; feelings are too raw. And don't give me mgmt needs time to get the next guy ready!!! Isn't that what Rogers is supposed to be doing every week in case Favre gets hurt?!!?! Other athletes have retired & the un-retired. Thompson has to get off his holier than thou, Roger is MY man and let them battle it out in camp. That should have been his answer when Favre said he wanted to come -- Great, welcome back but you need to compete for the starting position. With his drive he would have
