Cowboys Coach Wade Phillips Is Thinking Super Bowl: 'Get the Ring Finger Ready'

apparently this guy didnt learn from his owner's mistake last year. hubris is a bitch and so is karma. maybe the league will change the playoffs to a "on paper" format, so the cowboys could actually win a game. not like last when you know the "best team" lost. what a joke.

Too bad. That statement is the kiss of death. Too many good NFC East teams that, if healthy, stack up against the Boys and have beaten them last year. a QB injury or string of O-line or defensive back injuries has proven to neutralize many good teams. If I were JJ, I would have "fill-ups" put a lid on it. If not, his players will drink the kool-aide and think that they are going to roll over teams because they look good on paper. Remember the 2000 skins looked good on paper w/Deion, Bruce Smith, yadda, yadda, yet finished 8-8. Kiss of death.

Maybe the Cowboys can be able to achieve the top spot, but I only wish it were with top talanted players with "good guy" attitudes rather than the "bad boys" of the sport.

I don't at all like the Cowboys but I have always liked Wade, HOWEVER, what a dumb stupid statement??? Injuries, chemistry, luck and about a million other things come into play when the final game is over and the champion is crowned. Shame on you Wade.........how could you do that to your team? Get ready because that statement is going to be thrown back into the faces of Cowboy ownership, coaches, players and fans for the entire 2008 season.......

The Cowboys should win a playoff game first before they start sizing up their championship rings. First, they have to get through the champs in their own division. If they're lucky enough to make it through the NFC East, they still have to beat the best of the AFC. I don't see it happening. Not unless Tony Romo proves that he can play well in the playoffs. Don't get ahead of yourselves, Cowboy fans.

Wade reminds me of his father O A "Bum" Phillips who said the phrase "We will kick the s. o. b. door down" when he was head coach of then Houston Oilers after the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Oilers two years in a row in the AFC Championships. What happened was that Oilers went to the playoffs in 1980 and lost their playoff game to the Oakland Raiders and Bum got fired after that season. Wade I'll give you credit for the expression "Fake it till you make it."

The Cowboys are like Colts for the past years when they were considered the "best" team, yet they kept choking in the post season. The only difference is the Colts won playoff games and eventually the SB.

Yeah Jeff, everyone is scared...lol Like everyone was scared the Pats would go undefeated (though everyone was).

This season should make for another great one. Though, last season will be hard to top with the epic "David and Goliath" Super Bowl.

The most dominant team during the regular season with the best record never wins the SB, or most of the time.

I am a huge Cowboys' fan, but for a head coach who has achieved little in the postseason, Wade's comments were both pointless and idiotic. You've gotta walk the walk before talking the talk , not vice versa.

Though it is a very brave statement , and yes the cowboys division is loaded with more than just 1 team that can make it to the super bowl not to mention the other nfc divisions , i like to see a coach that believes in his team , what do you want him to say , we wont make it to the play offs , give me a break .. Sounds like a bunch of haters ! The cowboys is the most reconized sports franchise in the world and i believe yall envy that , envy the great ring of honor and the great chance we have at getting the 6th super bowl ring , let your minds fill with hate and envy it will just make me smile more!!!
