Jason Taylor wanted to play for a team that was in the playoffs last year, not in last place. Bill Parcells wanted to shape his roster in Miami with young, inexpensive players. Dan Snyder wanted to add a big-name star in Washington. All three men got their wish today, as the Miami Dolphins traded Taylor to the Washington Redskins for a 2009 second-round pick and a 2010 sixth-round pick.
Taylor will become a starting defensive end for the Redskins, who just lost starting defensive end Phillip Daniels to a torn ACL. Snyder, the Redskins' owner, never hesitates to add expensive veterans, and Daniels probably hadn't been carted off the practice field yet when Snyder called the Dolphins to inquire what it would take to acquire Taylor.
And Parcells probably told him a second-round pick wasn't quite enough, so Snyder threw in that 2010 sixth-rounder, and the deal was done. And now Taylor, who has played his entire 11-year career with the Dolphins, is a Redskin.

Bill Pacells has always made sure that the star of the teams he's coached know how much of a rectum he is - Phil Simms Terrell Owens and now Jason Taylor - Tony Dungee and other class coaches do it with respect to the players

Ummmm, the guy posted Good Luck to Jason with the skins. Clearly, he knows Jason was traded to Washington. He was referring to himself having moved back to Pittsburgh. YOU keep up..... DUH!!

I think Jason needed to go. I am a Dolphin Fan, and always will be. We are rebuilding and dont need the negative energy. Its not hard to be a star on a team with no stars. It will be funny to see him fall out of the spotlight in Washington..

Jason Taylor leaving the Dolphins for the Washington Redskins is a good deal for both teams. The Redskins get a star player to sell tickets and the Dolphins will get future stars in the Bill Parcells mold.

George B Vieto said... The Redskins get a star player to sell tickets ...
The Redksins have been sold out since the early 60's
90,000 plus seat stadium plus at least that many on the waiting list...they don't need a new player to "sell tickets"
That being said it's a great trade for the Skins .... get a great player to shore up the injury depleted D-line
Hail to the Redskins

Now is time to see how the drafting of Phillip Merling and Kendall Langford impacts the team. Bill Parcells, the spotlight on you and Jeff Ireland and the coaching staff just became a little brighter. Personally, I would have loved to see a Jason Taylor for Brett Favre trade and let John Beck,Chad Henne and Josh McNown learn from one of the greatest of all time for a year or two like Aaron Rodgers set and learned. There is no quarterback on the roster for the current dolphins to learn the game from. Is Dan Marino available as quarterbacks coach?

this trade is okay because nethier the skins on dolphins will make the playoffs anyway cause snyder cant draft players and he gets unproven veterans in free agents and he over pays them they need a coach more than 1 year and the dolphins will never make it to the playoffs they play in the same division with the new england and the dolphins need to stay with one quaterback insteadof 13 and not keep giving ricky chance after chance

Nick is foolish, "he gets unproven veterans in free agents and he over pays them " Jason taylor leads the Nfl in sacks this decade.. Even if the skins get one year out of him, as long as he puts up at least ten sacks, like he has the past 8 years, it will be worth it. And any idiot knows JT is not "Unproven". This gives the skins a legitimate 3rd pass rusher... don’t blog if you do not know what your talking about Nick

I agree with Nick and Duffy. Taylor is getting old and will be forgotten now that he is a Skin. The Skins play in one of the toughest divisions and are at the bottom of it now that McNabb is healthy.
Dolphins got the better of the trade in the long run. Taylor is almost done and even if he stayed with the Dolphins he wasn't the key factor whether they are Super bowl contenders or not.

Even though I am a Cowboy fan, I may have to be for the Redskins most of the year except when playing Dallas. I want Jason to have a Super Bowl ring to show to Bill Parcells

I hope this year ends up being the best in his career!!! That is just terrible!!! He is devoted to his game and is very Good at the game and for them to just trade him like his record in the following year was Bad????? They are a Disgrace and they just make a bad axample out there for our children. The main focus should have been his record!! not what he does in the off season...Unreal..and they should all step down for such a Lame excuse to TRADE!!!! Records mean nothing I guess!!...higher ups need to leave Miami....

first off, I am a dolfan. JT had a very good run in his career there. That said, he should have been in camp showing those young players how a professional does it. Not freaking dancing with the stars. Would I have liked to see himm finish his career in Miami? Of course.

I have been in the dolfan stadium for years and watched JT.However, get your story straight! JT has been quoted as saying,"I want to be remembered as a great "movie star "some day - not a "great football player." Mr. H is a class act and allowed JT to go "dancing in Hollywood" knowing he still had a 2 yr. contract left. What other organization would allow that?? This was Jason's request. He wants to keep his movie star status going and rebuilding a team in Miami wouldn't have done that for him. He could care less about football now. He WANTS TO BE IN MOVIES. He has already started negotiating contracts for the near future. Please, don't diss an organization that has paid him MILLIONS and treated him with great respect. HE is the one who looks bad in this deal. Not MIAMI. Please, get your facts straight!
