Breaking: Anonymous NFL Source Thinks the Bears Will Be Very, Very Bad in 2008

I don't think many people would disagree with this here assessment from Mr. Anonymous NFL Coach/Scout/Front-Office Type, particularly since we've been beaten about the head with it since, oh, I don't know, the day the 2007 season ended. But, hey, maybe if the folks in charge of making decisions for the Bears hear it enough, something will eventually change. Or not. Whatever.
"The Bears have no offense. Who is their quarterback? Who is their running back? Who are their receivers? A guy who could not get on the field with Washington (WR Brandon Lloyd) is slated to start. They are going to be putting a lot of faith in a rookie left tackle and a rookie running back.

They are bound to be down by 30 at halftime against Indianapolis in the opener with (defensive coordinator) Bob Babich still coordinating the defense. They could begin the season 0-4 and be right back to where they were when they made the mistake of selecting Cedric Benson. If you want to look at the quality of their backfield, just consider the guy they were counting on to be their starter (Benson) was passed by all 31 other teams on waivers. What does that tell you?"
As Josh Alper pointed out to me, do you really need to be anonymous to make such claims? I'm convinced this is Jerry Angelo, in which case it almost is acceptable, but still.

In any event, yeah, we get it, the Bears are going to be VERY BAD in 2008. They have, well, no offensive weapons, and their best player is probably unproven left tackle Chris Williams and unproven running back Matt Forte.

Sure, they have Kevin Jones and his reconstructed knee, but what's he good for, three, maybe four games? Then what? Re-sign Benson? I say make a trade for Chris Simms, stat, move Rex Grossman to running back and see if Kyle Orton can catch. If so, let him share the job with Brandon Lloyd, at least until Lloyd quits to pursue his true love, producing music.

By the way, I'm not as down on Chicago as Mr. I'm Scared to Show My Face. There's no way they're down by 30 to the Colts in the opener. Four touchdowns, maybe, but not a point more.
