Brett Favre told Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson this week that he wants to play in the NFL again, ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting.According to the report, Favre and his agent, Bus Cook, had the conference call with McCarthy and Thompson on Tuesday night. Mortensen writes, "sources say that the quarterback stated emphatically that he wanted to play again." Mortensen doesn't say who those sources are, but if there were only four people on the conversation, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
Since the flurry of speculation began that Favre was coming back, he has only commented on the record once, when he sent a text message to a reporter in Mississippi saying that the reports were "all rumor" and "there's nothing to it."

if he wants to come back let him he is the only qb in history to throw major interception in big games and still he is called a god guess what he better be glad he is white because if he was blk doing what he did in games he would have been gone forever even with a superbowl win

What a stupid comment. Stop playing the race card. What a fool.

That argument is ridiculous, look at how much love B-roeth gets in Pittsburgh if you want an example of how wrong you are. A three time MVP with a super bowl ring earns plenty of slack, especially in a city that worships football. I remember talking heads prematurely saying that he was done before the season (although I do recognize the ridiculous hero worship he gets from certain reporters).
This isn't a race issue so I don't understand why you would bring that crap to the table. Save the race card for an issue where it applies.

Brett give it up already and stay retired. There is only one direction for you-----> Down. The Giant game last year was no fluke.

WHY? WHY? WHY?
Would the management WELCOME Brett back? I don't understand. WHO cares if he said he wanted to retire, THEY forced him to give them an answer by March 1st.
I live in Orlando Florida, I am NOT from Wisconsin but I am a Packer fan.
Please, he can NOT wear any other uniform except Green Bay.

The man was an overtime from the superbowl. He also has won a superbowl and was an All-Star just last season. If that is what he want's to do why would anyone be against it. It is his life.

If he changes teams, will the Madden 09 game cover change to reflect his new jersey?

They need to add Brett type activities to career mode and have players that wreck other players confidence, team morale, your draft, and your salary cap through their ridiculous indecision. That and players need to get DUI's and/or get busted for possession (Matt Jones I'm looking at you) all the the time and get suspended for it.

I think the way the announcers are defending this guys shows how crazy this whole thing has gotten. Bret couldn't stand the fact the new kid was getting all the attention, now he wants back like a spoiled child. He wasn't talking about a comeback as long as every sport station was talking about him;
showing his first win etc;.think about it. they always talk about how much a team player this guy is.Well where is his team spirit the way he has jerk that team around?
They had to wait last year for him to make up his mind. Then
he decides to retire (tears and all). Now he wants back and can't understand why the club is fed up and ready to move on. I say grow up Bret! And don't tell me about what he has done for them because he has been treated like a living God by that team and those fans. The announcers need to be fair about this situation and quit acting like he can do what he wants and everybody else just have to suffer. What about Aron Rodgers feelings?

Brett is a team player, once he has decided to play. In the off-season the guy is a f..king malignant tumor and has been getting worse and worse each year.
Brett can has the right to go out on his own terms but he should have avoided being such a douche about it. I almost hope the Packers activate him and sit his ass on the bench, it would keep other people from pulling this type of crap. There is no way they could get away with that though and honestly I want see him play (hopefully not in GB) more than I want him to learn a lesson.

Ted as to do what gives the packers the best chance to win. GB was one game maybe one pass from the superbowl Aaron does not have Brett's arm or maybe more important the intangibles that Brett brings. Ted, don't be stupid take him back.

Training camp hasn't even started and the Packers have "moved on"? No one can say Brett's announcement that he wants to play is "too late"; how many rookies have the Packers signed from their 2008 class? The poor Packers: upset that a legend of the game wants to come back and play for them. Maybe Miami will make Brett an offer and he'll get to make the cheese-heads regret not letting him back on the field (if that is what's really going on).

I know that it is a very long shot but since Brett lives very close to New Orleans wouldn't it be nice if he played for the Saints or the Falcons?
