This summer has been relatively quiet in terms of Eagles news and drama compared to years past. Aside from the issue of what the team will do with talented corner back Lito Sheppard, about the only thing Eagles fans had to talk about was Donovan McNabb's sore shoulder.
With McNabb's health once again entering the conversation, it's no suprise that Fox Sports list McNabb as one of 10 NFL players on the hot seat in 2008. But they didn't stop there, oh no, they had to resort to the tried and true way to make your article lose all credibility. They went to sit on Santa's lap.
In a town whose fans would ask Santa Claus, 'What have you done for us lately?' the guy suiting up at quarterback never feels comfortable sitting down in Philly. With understudy Kevin Kolb learning more of the playbook every day, the pressure on McNabb will intensify. But he could keep Philly happy by handing the ball to Brian Westbrook and flipping it to rookie DeSean Jackson. Here's some good news: the offensive line returns intact. Here's some bad news: Eagles quarterbacks were sacked 49 times last season.Despite resorting to the Santa garbage, there is some truth to McNabb being on the hot seat. After all, McNabb is the quarterback of the football team in Philadelphia.
That guy is always on the hot seat.

mcnabb is a great quaterback when healthy. if he plays out the year without any serious injuries. that would be great. but if not the eagles need to move on with a quarterback who isnt so prone to injuries..

I just want to remind all Eagle fans that a certain QB by the name of Randall was put on the hot seat his whole career in Philly too. He was eventually run out of town. He couldn't win a playoff; He always choked; He couldn't throw acccurate or stay in the pocket....
He ended up with the Vikings and almost with a Super Bowl ring if not for a missed kick. Oh, but the Eagle fans ended up with stellar QB's like Peete, Petersen, Hoying, the Detmers. Buddy got booted for sticking with Randall and going to the Playoffs every year but not advancing. So instead we got Kotite and Rhodes. Those were great times to be a fan weren't they?
So next time you want to dump the QB/Coach duo that took us consistantly to the playoffs almost every year and the first Super Bowl since the Reagan administration, think about the years before Mcnabb. He went to the Super Bowl with future "Where are they now?"receivers Thrash, Pinkston, Mitchell, and McMullens (Owens was out for the whole playoffs) And think about where the team would have been if they went with Ricky "WEEDS" Williams. Or how about this Feely (who couldnt hack it in 1-15 MIA) the starter with Kolb (the one nobody heard of until he got drafted) you heir apparent.
