We have roughly three weeks until training camps start, so now is the perfect time for teams to try to sign draft picks, and if they're so inclined, re-work existing deals with players currently on the roster looking for more coin. Browns tight end Kellen Winslow qualifies for the latter category, although his employer doesn't share his urgency. In fact, general manager Phil Savage has said that the organization doesn't "have a lot of wiggle room right now at this particular time," which is code for, "yeah, it ain't happenin' before the season so quit asking."
Pro Football Weekly speculates that when the Browns decide to start handing out bonuses, Winslow might not even be first in line.
According to a source close to the club, Browns WR Braylon Edwards, who has only two years left on his contract, is in line ahead of TE Kellen Winslow when it comes to getting a new deal. Winslow, whose contract has been the source of offseason speculation, has three years left on his rookie deal.No idea how much truth there is to all this, but it seems plausible enough. Edwards has improved in each of his three NFL seasons and is close to becoming an elite NFL receiver. Of course, you could make the same case for Winslow as a tight end, but there are two things to consider:
First, Edwards has two years left on his rookie contract. Ideally, teams like to re-negotiate deals a year before they expire, but not too much sooner than that. Second, the Browns stuck with Winslow after the crotch rocket accident almost ended his career. Sure, the team re-jiggered his deal to save a few bucks, and Winslow has since emerged as a top-5 NFL tight end, but nobody knew that at the time.
I'm sure none of this will persuade K2's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to be less vigilant, but I suspect most people would be fine with Edwards getting his due before Winslow.

Edwards finally has someone capable to get the ball to him.Given his age, high moral character and production,I really can't think of a receiver I would rather have than Edwards at this point. He has really matured on and off the field, and I am fine with him being first in line for the coin.

As the country slogan goes "Dance with who brung you." Braylon Edwards has been the more productive receiver and deserves his pay raise over Kellen.

edwards "is close to becoming an elite NFL receiver" Thats like saying our president is close to being unpopular. Were way past being close in both situations.

Braylon is already an elite season, he solidified his position last year.
Kellen is definately one of the top TEs in the league, but injuries have haunted him, but he's bounced back in great fashion. It really shouldn't matter who gets jack first, they're both tops in their respective categories...and i'm not even a Browns fan, enjoy watching them play though.
