Don Imus spoke out on his radio show today about his comments yesterday regarding Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones. Here's the audio:
Talking about police treatment of Jones, who has been arrested several times, Imus said, "What people should be outraged about is that they arrest blacks for no reason. There's no reason to arrest this kid six times, I mean maybe he did something once but everybody does something once -- I have. ... They shoot blacks for no reason."
Imus later added, "I know there's some people who want to get me, but you're not going to get me for this. It's ridiculous."

I dunno, His point seemed obvious to me. And not without some merit. No, I'm not a racist, nor am I blind. we have all seen countless black atheletes throw their careers in the toilet over illegal crap. Vick is just another of many many other examples vs a few whites. I don't know why this is. I don't speculate as to why. Just that this does in fact seem to be the case. That being said. what difference does it make what color the guy is?

Don, how can you say they shoot blacks for no reason. Are you implying that the police shoot for no reason.Or are you saying blacks shoot other blacks for no reason.you need to clarify your statement. The police don't arrest people for no reason, you don't know why Jones was arrested all those times.Maybe he was doing what the police said he did. He's a spoiled person who thinks he can get away with whatever he wants because he's rich and black. What about the person that was paralyzed by his conduct, you don't have anything to say about that.

When I first heard the comment that's what I thought he meant, but I can understand why people would find it hard to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I can understand the whole "blacks commit more crimes thing" but its not really about color. Its about class. Those living in poverty are more likely to commit crimes. It just happens more blacks live in the state of poverty than other races. What gets me though, is how they can struggle so long and actually make it. Have it all and still young. Only to flush it over stupid illicit BS. It just makes no sense. Guess you can take the guy out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the guy...

I'm no Imus apologist nor do I find him funny at all. That said, is it a crime for someone to dislike a certain group of people? Some people don't like blacks, some jews, some Asians, some politicians, etc. If you're a person who is offended by his comments, don't listen. If enough peolpe don't listen then things will take care of themselves.

title: how barrack obama saved don Imus' ass.
The obama camp has put the word out to the jesse jacksons, al sharptons and all other black racists to not make any waves as it concerns black and white issues until after the election. this was done so as to not wake up or in any way educate the white morons that might be inclined to vote for obama. think about it, sharpton says he needs a few days to think it over, what a joke, it never takes that racist more than a few seconds to respond to the camera and keep a black issue alive as long as possible. Again, what a joke, how stupid can the american people be?

As a young, black person I have to ask, does it really matter what he meant? Either way is it far off the mark? Whatever happened to free speech in this country? Seems only the most liberal among us are truly able to have "free" speech.

I read hundreds and hundreds of posts from people sticking up for Imus because he was "speaking the truth" as was his right under freedom of speach.
But no one "got" that he was slamming the police forces for picking on poor widdle Pacman...he's a lovely kid after all. Might have gotten in trouble once or twice but not six times.
HA!
The truth is he laid out a veiled slam against blacks and knew he could weasle away from them.
Defending Pacman. Name another sympathetic ear to Pacman's plight.
He's just a loser on the air spitting out garbage. The interesting point to all this was the public's reaction to the comments.
~70% supported what they thought were his thoughts and defended him.
How many people are going to support his thoughts now that we "know" they were in support of Pacman?
He's having a laugh about this behind closed doors.

no it isn't illegal. it is, however, bigoted and therefore a bit irresponsible. people will, sometimes, be influenced by what they hear and read without thinking it through. therefore, when somebody states something that is biased, it can have detrimental consequences. I think that Imus is not really meaning harm though. he is usually just straight forward, from what i've heard.
