Prior to his most recent legal troubles, Steve Foley was best known for taking three bullets from an off-duty police officer during a bizarre altercation in Sept. 2006. Yesterday, the Houston Chronicle reported that Foley, out of football since the shooting, was "indicted on a charge of attack by a dog" after his two pit bulls attacked a woman and her puppy. Foley's lawyer called the incident an accident, sorta like that time Joey Porter's dogs inadvertently ate a small horse.
The indictment, a third-degree felony, was unsealed Wednesday. Foley is accused of failing to secure the dogs, which made an unprovoked attack on a neighbor on the afternoon of March 26, according to court documents. The neighbor, Twana Schulz, suffered serious bodily injury when she was bitten on the arms and face, the indictment said.Foley's dogs have since been "seized and destroyed" (in "shock and awe fashion", no doubt, to send a message to the other would-be doggie offenders). Joking aside, it sounds like harrowing experience; Schulz's puppy was killed in the attack. If Foley is convicted, he could serve up to 10 years in the joint.
Responsible pit bull owners everywhere would like to take this opportunity to thank Foley for his negligence.

If a dog with no leash came near me or my family with bad intentions, I'd "seize and destroy" it then and there.
Put your dogs on leashes, people. Everyone else who owns a pitbull, doberman, chow, german shephard or rottweiler pays higher home insurance premiums because people like Steve Foley let this nonsense occur.

Maybe he will end up in prison with an animal rights advocate and (former) NFL player who answers
to the name of Michael "CON" Vick.

As a pit owner (2) we have to see this stuff all the time. If mine ever get loose they will lick someone to death. It's all in the raising of the animals. They were both raised w/ babies in the house and are two of the most docile, loving dogs ever. But it's taken a lot of work and loving to get there. And yes I DO agree with leash laws. They're animals. Something bad is bound to happen if they get out.

Steve Foley gives Pit Bulls a bad name with the attack of his dog on Twana. I know that all breeds of dogs are not monsters. The owner who doesn't train the dogs is.

Steve Foley needs to control his dogs. I was living in San Diego when Steve and his girlfriend got into trouble with the police. An off duty officer followed him on I-15, where the car was acting irratically and he pulled Steve over. The shooting occurred when Foley got out of his vehicle and started advancing upon the officer even when told to back off. He would not show his hands and kept walking, the officer warned him he would shoot and so Foley was shot three times while the girlfriend tried to run the cop down with the car.
He wins the trophy of the month "Using common sense without the benefit of alcohol" award.
I am not surprized that he owns "Michael Vick" dogs, I mean isn't Vick the poster boy for dog fighting?
Geez.
