Apparently, Tyler Brayton isn't the only person who's not happy that Jerramy Stevens has re-signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In fact, it's hard to find someone in Tampa who is happy about it.According to the Tampa Tribune, Bucs fans have been lighting up the phones at WDAE AM 620, the team's flagship radio station, to protest Stevens' presence on the team. Steve Duemig, the station's drive-time show host, seems to agree with all of them.
"I've said I will not let this die. I think it's disgusting that he's a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We talked about Stevens for four hours Monday, and there wasn't one dissenting opinion."
Duemig (and everyone else) is upset because of Stevens' ugly track record, which includes multiple DUI arrests and a recent conviction, protests from his condo neighbors about vomit and used condoms raining down from Stevens' deck, and an arrest on rape charges while he was a player at the University of Washington. Those charges were dropped, but thanks to Stevens' history, the story hasn't gone away.
I suspect the fans' anger toward him won't go away, either. He's not exactly a class act. Here's hoping Brayton doesn't miss next time.

Try to get through to Duemig - if you don't agree with him - you can't get through.
If Stevens was so guilty why did they drop the charges?

Larry: The official reason the rape charges were dropped was lack of evidence. Keep in mind, though, that he's been arrested multiple times, the DUI charges stuck, and Stevens was sentenced to jail time for them.
Duemig might be a jerk -- sports talk radio is full of those -- but I honestly think you'd be hard pressed to find a lot of people who would defend Jerramy Stevens.

This player is just one of many NFL, NBA and MLB players whose appearance, bearing, ability to speak the national language, and general behavior puts them on the trash list as citizens. I am not a devoted hockey fan, but it seems to me Hockey is a sport that requires more speed, stamina, precision, and general athletic ability than does football, basketball or baseball. The hockey players, as a group (there are always exceptions), also seem to be better and more presentable citizens in a much rougher and more demanding sport. This player is an embarrassment and I line up with the Tampa fans who are opposed to his signing.
