Roy Williams Is the Only Cowboys Player Bill Parcells Isn't Interested in Acquiring

Last week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the Dallas Morning News that he still "has a lot of confidence in Roy Williams' competitiveness." No word on Roy Williams' ability, but whatever. Jones' comments were in response to linebacker Greg Ellis spilling the beans that Williams didn't feel he was a good fit for Dallas' defense. Most fans would agree, I think.

On his Inside the Dolphins blog, the Palm Beach Post's Tim Graham writes that Williams might be one of the few Cowboys that Bill Parcells doesn't covet. Graham points to Randy Galloway's column in the Fort-Worth Star Telegram for evidence:
[According to Galloway] it looks like at least one member of the Dolphins coaching staff thinks Williams is a primadonna.

Galloway describes how, despite five straight trips to Honolulu, Williams' game has deteriorated to the point he was "benched last season in certain coverage situations, replaced by guys who aren't even on the team at the moment."
Galloway also quoted "a prominent coach" no longer in Dallas as saying, "Roy has gone Hollywood ... He's most concerned with making SportsCenter highlights by blowing up a guy than he is working hard at improving his coverage and his game."

And just to be sure we're all on the same page about Williams and his underachieving ways, Galloway asked a coach if the Pro Bowl safety was having trouble adjusting to the 3-4 scheme. The (perhaps predictable) response: "When your preparation and dedication are lacking, you can't blame that on a scheme."

So to recap: Roy Williams is a shiftless layabout deserving of his fate. Or in Parcells parlance: Anthony Fasano > Roy Williams. No, that's not embarrassing.
