EA Sports Wants to Ruin Brett Favre's Life

Brett Favre had some rough times during his NFL career. His father died. His wife battled through breast cancer. He had his own battle with vicodin addiction. His family home was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. You would think that after all that, people would try to make his post-retirement life a little more comfortable.

Not Electronic Arts. No. According to GameDaily, Brett Favre is slated to be on the cover of Madden 09, and he's scheduled to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman tonight to promote it. So if anyone sees Peter King loitering around the Ed Sullivan Theater today, you'll know why.

I suppose it's only fitting that Favre be on the cover of this ~~roster update~~ game, given that John Madden was one of Favre's biggest cheerleaders. Still, are we really that eager to find out if the Madden Curse can impact NFL players off the field? And did they have to use someone who's been through so much crap as a test subject?

This is a nice little going-away present for Favre, yes, but if we hear six months from now that Favre's dog got run over by a Dodge Durango, EA Sports will take the blame for it. They must be so very proud.

Brett, i enjoyed all those year. although i think you
should of retired probably 2 yrs ago. all those interceptions. an @ the end you couldnt do anything.
you were my flavorite QB i have followed the packers sence the mude blow back in the Bart Starr an vince days. in app 1962. When GB beat DALLAS TO ADVANCE.

The only thing that bothers me as a loyal packer Nad Brett fan is that he decided to go on the Letterman show. He is a complete loser and is far from entertaining and doesn't deserve a No. 1 Brett helping to promote his dull show. Jay Leno is much more appealling and is funny.

This is crazy. Whose idea was it to put a non-active player onto a video that still has not come out. Thats like having NHL 09 put Keith Primeau on the cover. I mean i got absolutely nothing against Farve. Great guy, player, attitude, skills, and arm but he doesn't play anymore. Why not put Ted Williams on MLB 09 The Show? Or Dr. J on NBA 09? Come on E.A.! You guys are like John Madden. You have an obbsesion with Farve. Why not put some one else on that cover. Some one who will do something in 08-09 instead of sitting on your couch watching the games like Farve will be doing. I would like to say I'm sorry to hear about his dog and father. R.I.P. I'm not sorry about this comment Im posting!

You are ridiculous, Brett Favre deserves to be on the cover of the game. He is an amazing quarterback. It is not fair for you to judge him based on his past addictions. By the way he got over his addiction, it's not like he hasn't had enough stress in his life. If you don't want to buy the game because he is on the cover, then don't. That would be sad though to not buy something you want because a great quarterback is on the cover, sounds kind of juvenile to me.

I think it's a pretty cool thing to do. It's like a tribute to Favre. I think they should start putting all the greats on the covers each year. They all worked hard for the NFL. I know Brett has had his problems "but" he will always be one of the best quaterbacks in history! Along with Elway(which Im from Colorado and really don't like the Broncos. But do Love the Packers!

Hey, Brett Favre is to me one of the best Quaterbacks of this time! 17 wonderful years of Blood sweat and Tears!! Leave him alone and let this man retire with Dignity. I'm a True Packers Fan, and always will be!! Hey Maybe Brett will suprise us all and come back another season, if no papers have been signed? I Love you Brett Favre, And all of the packers. I also know someone who lost thier home and livelyhood in Mississippi. Biloxi. I went down there Last July and met the people i supported and saw the almost 2 yrs aftermath, More work needs done. Brett Farve is a true Gentleman!! He is not only #1 with me, But a Real man with emotions, Ok so who hasn't had to take at least one pain pill in thier lifes? He overcame that, and The loseing his father, I did too in 2001. Prostate Cancer. I Can relate to him. I say come back or have a great retirement, and don't let this get you down Brett. Gods on your Side! Bree
