This is obviously very premature and speculative, but following up on the news that billionaire developer Ed Roski wants to build an NFL stadium in the Los Angeles area, The Hater Nation has an interesting point:
the stadium could start construction this fall and be ready by 2011. The same year the Raiders could get out of its lease in Oakland.
Hmm. The Raiders left Los Angeles to return to Oakland in 1994, and the speculation that the Raiders would leave Oakland to go back to Los Angeles started almost immediately afterward. But most of that speculation hasn't been backed by anything as strong as a billionaire developer saying he wants to build an NFL stadium in L.A.
There's also speculation that the team to relocate to Los Angeles could be the Vikings, Chargers, Bills or Jaguars. My best guess is that the Bills wouldn't move to Los Angeles because the NFL would rather see them move to Toronto if they're going to move at all, but that the Raiders, Vikings, Jaguars and Chargers -- probably in that order of likelihood -- could all move. One way or another, the NFL wants to put a team back in L.A., and if there's a good stadium deal in place, Al Davis would love for that team to be the Raiders.

Just the fact that LA has been without a team for this long is reason enough for me to think the NFL has a lack of talent in the brain muscle department.
We could use a team in Vegas as well -

Why not name four more cities that could possible move to L.A. This way you can piss off some more fans, thinking their team might move.

Whoever gets into LALA land the NFL will have to compensate Mr.Davis and The Raiders and that is why there hasn't been a team in LALA land since The Raiders. The NFL doesn't want too compensate Mr.Davis and The Raiders.

If any team other than the Raiders moves back to LA, watch for Dysfunctional Al to sue slap an antitrust lawsuit on the NFL once again. Note - the Raiders have announced no plans to replace the aging Oakland Coliseum.

The 49ers are going to be looking for a new home as well. It looks as though the Stadium plans in both the City of San Franciasco and Santa Clara have fallen through. I don't see a stadium being built, and I don't see the owner John York fighting very hard to see it get done.

Ok heres the deal....first of Kirk....get on your knees and kiss Al`s ass cause the Raiders are the only team to bring a superbowl title to that armpit you call Los Angeles...second Fox sports which has the rights to the NFC package is based in L.A. and would rather have an existing NFC team there. Two logical choices would be the Vikings or the Niners. So-Cal has a Niner fan base so the obvious choice would be for an owner like John York to take advantage of the situation with a new stadium and possible promise of a rotation hosting the superbowl...The Raiders are`nt going anywhere, their games are sold out except for one or two and with Jamarcus Russel beginging his career and Darren McFadden about to become our new weapon on offense, things are only looking up for the Raider Nation....hows that taste Raider Haters? lmaoooo

The Jaguars aren't moving to LA, this guy is a moron. Wayne Weaver is an old school owner and he loves Jacksonville and it would take something catastrophic for him to move them. If it is going to be anyone it will be a Cali team or the Vikes. My money would be on the Chargers. Wouldn't have to move the team too far. San Diego just turned down a tax to provide new funds for a new stadium.

Just an idle question for Raiders fans. Is Al acting rationally? Look up the symptoms of early Alzheimer's, and see if anyone in the Raiders organization is acting in this matter (easily angered, paranoid, making unusual financial and business decisions, reclusive, etc.) Maybe this is just good old eccentric Al, but he seems to consistently be making bad decisions for the Raiders organization. I'm not a Raiders fan (much prefer the Chiefs -- yes I know they've also been lousy the last two years), but I miss the days when the Raiders were good, and you could legitimately hate them for being so good. Over the last few years they have been terrible, they have lost good people (both coaches and players) and it seems like only one person, who's not in the best of health, is calling all the shots. Nowadays, with the organization starting to look like New Orleans and Tampa Bay used to, all you can feel for the Raiders is pity. Was Al always this way?
