Broncos' Brandon Marshall Admits McDonald's Wrapper Did Not Cause Arm Injury

Yesterday I noted a report from Adam Schefter of NFL Network that said Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall had suffered an arm injury after he slipped on a McDonald's wrapper and put his hand through a TV screen. And I expressed skepticism about that report, because it just sounded too weird, and because athletes don't have a great track record for truthfulness about off-field injuries.

Well, today, Schefter is reporting that Marshall has admitted that the injury was not, in fact, caused by a slip on a McDonald's wrapper. What Marshall actually says is that although the part about putting his arm through the TV is true, he actually did it in an accident while wrestling with family members.

It's not clear why Marshall would lie about it, but it is clear that this is a serious injury: Schefter reports that Marshall severed an artery and a vein, damaged a nerve in his right forearm and cut tendons to five muscles. He needed surgery to have his tendons and artery sutured back together and it will be three months before he has recovered.

The injury isn't likely to jeopardize Marshall's season: He should be completely healed by the start of training camp in July. But it's going to be a long, painful recovery. I'm guessing that was the last wrestling match of Marshall's life.

the truth will set you free or in this case make you look like the jack ass you are. next it will come out that he put his hand through a TV, but he wasnt wrestling he was at the strip club and was trying to punch a stripper, missed and hit the TV instead. I swear these guys sit around and think up the craziest stuff to jeapodize their million dollar contracts, read a damn book and stay out of trouble

To lucky, I have to agree with you. I did laugh hard when I read your post. My family and I do not wrestle on the ground and punch holes through walls and TV's, come on!!! Unless you and your family are WWF wrestlers or such! LOL

Yes, what a cover up. Maybe he was angry at someone and punched the TV??? Hum, just maybe.....

lol... your family has never wrestled around with younger members of the family? seriously, apparently my family and the marshall family are unique in this way... all i know is this is not another cover up, because things like this do happen... shame on all of you for thinking that just because this man makes millions of dollars on his football career means that he shouldnt be allowed to have some fun with his family in his own house, y'all are pathetic.

When an adult lies about one thing you can never really have any confidence in anything else they say from that point forward. The lying is WAY more troubling to me than the real reason for how the injury might have happened, no matter how stupid, weird, or kinky that reason is.

Okay now...the old tv sets have really hard glass and very hard to break...LCD tv is made of plastic...but not very wide..maybe 1/2 hand deep...and lightweight so the tv would move away instead of letting someone's arm go through it which it wouldn't be deep enough anyway....so what's the next excuse by him and lawyers for doing something really wrong....like maybe breaking into his gf's house by breaking the glass window with his arm?

Well, the only reason to lie in the first place would be if the real reason was something to be ahamed of. And wrestling with family members isn't something that would need to be covered up with a public lie. Unless, it wasn't the playful wrestling that we generally think of. So either it's another lie, or the wrestling was true, but actually part of a knock-out, drag-out incident of domestic violence in his household. Yeah, then that might be something to lie about in the first story.

Oh, and 1 more thing.. Wouldn't it be something for MacDonald's to turn around and sue the wealthy football player for blaming them? He'd hafta go get a cup of hot coffee from 'em and dump it in his lap, and then they'd break even
