ESPN is reporting that the Oakland Raiders and cornerback DeAngelo Hall have agreed to a seven-year, $70 million contract. The agreement will allow the Raiders to complete a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, sending second- and sixth-round picks to Atlanta in exchange for Hall. The guaranteed money in the deal has not been reported. NFL contracts are often advertised as being bigger than they really are, as it's entirely possible that a large portion of the $70 million comes from a seventh year of the contract that won't actually be played, or from clauses that won't actually be triggered. Hall most likely won't actually get $70 million. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Hall will get slightly less than the six-year, $57 million deal with $20 million guaranteed that Asante Samuel got with the Eagles.
The Raiders plan to play Hall across the field from Nnamdi Asomugha, who is not under contract right now but has been tagged as the exclusive franchise player, guaranteeing him at least $9,465,000 in 2008. That will give the Raiders one of the better pairs of corners in the league, but also, most likely, the most expensive pair of corners in the league.
The Falcons now have their own first- and second-round picks, plus the second-round picks of both the Raiders and Houston Texans, in the NFL draft. The Falcons could become major players if they decide to package those picks in trades.

Congratulations to Al Davis, who has lost all his judgment, all his cap room, and all his marbles at the same time.

I hate to see DeAngelo go. I think he got a raw deal from the coach during the Steve Smith tirade. Hall hit Smith with a awesome and fair shot and was penalized for it.
Bobby Cox would have taken care of his player during that situation. The staff left him out to dry and that is why it escalated.
This is a sad day for me.

Raiders fans will now commence praying for the death of Al Davis. Funny how the Jaguars and the Giants refused to pay him that amount of money, but the Raiders are all over it.

The only thing I can say about Al Davis is that he doesn't need to wear those stupid ridiculous clothes anymore in order to be noticed and get attention! DeAngelo should have held out for more money---he would have got it.......

The Icon, Mr. Al Davis is at it again. He now has the best raider tandem since the legendary duo of HOF Mike Haynes, and Lester Hayes. This is a blockbuster deal that only Mr.Al Davis can pull of. This is a huge move and will significantly bolster the secondary, and should be one of the best tandems in the league. . Mr. Davis has also signed other big name free agents showing he is dedicated to "The Commitment To Excellence" Go Raiders Baby!!!

Dan do you think DeAngelo Hall is a good CB? He sucks horrible. He might do okay in the AFC West, and he did fine in the NFC South, because there were no good WR's. Anytime he faces a real #1 or #2 reciever the guy gets killed. Hall isn't no Champ Bailey or Marcus Trufant as much as he thinks he is, hell he isn't even a Ken Lucas.

What a bunch of bitter a$$ haters in here. Yeah Hall is horrible...every over rated horrible player gets voted to the pro bowl twice. Yes, Hall has had his down games but even Deon had those. Just as Hall is "supposedly" over valued, Asomugha is undervalued. We,as of now, have the best secondary in the league. Throw in a top D-lineman in the draft and we'll have a top 5 overall D.
So go ahead and sit there bitc#ing and moaning about how The Raiders are paying too much, or how Al is losing his mind AGAIN!!!! while secretly wishing your team would do more this offseason, but remember, the man has put together a franchise that has been unusually consistent for the better part of 40 plus years. now that we are in the salary cap era every team has a few up years and then a few down years. Now that we have some cap space it's time for an up year. Be afraid haters.

yeah al davis is crazy...every raider fan knows that but true raider fans stick by him cuz even if we like it or not he's there making all the decisions. the media can hate on the al davis and the raiders all they want for the money that they're throwing around.
Tommy Kelly, Justin Fargas, Drew Carter, Javon Walker, Gibril Wilson, Asomugha, And Hall... raiders look alot better off than they were in the last 5 years...let's see if we can get chris long in the draft and keep the legacy alive.
Win , Lose, or Tie Silver & Black till I Die !!!
I predict the raiders are going to win at least 8 games this year...you heard it here first

Good lord, are some of you crazy? Raider nation needs to except what Mr Davis is doing it's part of the master plan to get a good defence, and screw over the NFL at the same time. WHAT? you are asking, well if Davis is paying to much for what the media and some Raider fans are calling avarage players, think about what the rest of the NFL will have to pay for their star players LOL.All Al DAvis really wanted is to be treated fairly by the NFL but they won't let him have the stadium he needs to bring in revenue with box seating etc. and for his team to be treated fairly on the field by the refs, both of which they refuse to do, so SCREW THEM, they support the cheating PATRIOTS and hate the Raiders. I AGREE WITH AL DAVIS drive up the price...........Go Raiders
