The Tennessee Titans have reached a contract agreement with free agent guard Jake Scott, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts.

Scott has reportedly agreed to a four-year contract that pays about $5 million a year, which, in my view, is more money than he's worth. Yes, Scott has started the last 55 games for the Colts, but he's mostly just a serviceable player, not a dominant blocker, and for $5 million a year I want more than juts a serviceable guard.

On the other hand, this signing benefits the Titans in a second way: It takes away a bit of the Colts' offensive continuity. The Titans may have been willing to pay a bit extra to Scott to keep him from returning to Indianapolis, a division rival.

Scott is the Titans' third free-agent addition of this off-season, following tight end Alge Crumpler and defensive end Jevon Kearse.
