Good news: it looks like Pacman Jones will have more time to kick it at strip clubs and work on his professional wrasslin' skillz. Bad news: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell extended Jones' one-year suspension, and it won't be reviewed until sometime before the start of training camp.
"Most recently, we've been told that he won't be reinstated immediately as was our hope," said attorney Manny Arora, who is at the NFL Combine along with Jones' Nashville-based attorney Worrick Robinson. "The idea is that he continues to meet some sign posts that the commissioner has put out there, and if he meets those over the next however many weeks or months, then he will be allowed to come back and we can petition to let him back in."Presumably, one of those sign posts says something about "not making it rain" or some such. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Nashville City Paper that Jones will no longer be permitted to work out at the Titans' facilities during his suspension.
Alienating Jones from maybe the only people who can help him turn things around sounds like a splendid idea. Of course, head coach Jeff Fisher admitted earlier this month that the Titans would trade Jones if he were ever reinstated.
Who knows, maybe the Falcons might be interested. Jones and Michael Vick should both be available in time for the 2009 season.

As much as spying on your competitors, acting surly 98% and some other obnoxious behaviors...you can't possibly compare this to Packman. Though Packman has gotten out of most of his problems without doing time, the guy has some serious issues with who he is running with, guns, fighting and plain old stupidity! The guy is making serious bank, and though it is not up to me to tell anyone where to hang out and with who-but when are we going to start using some of the common sense we know you have got to have somewhere in your head. Packman is getting what Oprah used to call tough love. Goodell is giving him some tough love till he starts to "get it". It's only Feb and he was still in 'da club in January. Yeah, I think he needs a little more time off to think about the decisions he makes. Just my opinion...which isnt' worth a hill of beans, I know!
When a coach, who is an official, abuses the integrity of the game and gets a 250,000 fine, which is chump change to Bill B. and has been cited for cheating for over five years yet he is allowed to keep his job and remain int he league, and Goddell continues to keep this guy out, that has to be and unfair labor practice. Goddell is a good ole boy and he is employing GOOD OLE BOY TACTICS. This is totally unfair, make belichek go a year, five years without pay, for the five years he has cheated the NFL. Amazing how some AMERICANS, and i use the term loosely, champion the actions of punishment against Pacman, and not ask for the same against Belichek, who has violated the integrity of the game...Five years sounds like a repeated offense to me.
