Just a couple of months ago Anthony Herrera was a backup guard, now he's a very, very wealthy man.The Vikings have locked up Herrera for five years with a $13.5 million deal that means the Vikings now have four members of the offensive line locked up into the next decade. Herrera may not be Steve Hutchinson, but he has played pretty well since the Vikings turned to him before the Bears game. Since then Adrian Peterson has had a pair of 200 yard games and Chester Taylor has just put together a three-touchdown, 150+ yard day. And these days $3 million a year for a starting guard is a big bargain.
The Vikings rank No. 1 in the league in yards per carry on runs up the middle, which is party to the credit of Herrera as well.
The Vikings have put together the offensive line to be a Super Bowl champion. They have the running backs to make a run to a title and the defense isn't that far away, even if Minnesota struggles against the pass. It might not be a season to remember in 2007, but signing Herrera helps put together what should be a very good team in 2009, if the Vikes can find a quarterback.

I couldn't agree more Mr. J.J. Cooper. We have an excellent line & the best running back tandom in the league,( AP & Taylor), that LEADS THE NFL IN RUSHING! This is one of the reasons why I'm sick and tired of hearing negative things about Childress. Our offensive line was in bad shape when Childress took over, and now it's probably the best in the league. All of our top draft picks are actually on the feild playing THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!! Why? Because our head coach is making sure their getting coached up and PLAYING! That is valuable experience that will put us further along next year. T-Jack is OUR QB!!!!!!!!!!! He has all the tangables to be a excellent NFL QB!!! Rice will become a stand out receiver. Wade is a legitimate 3rd receiver. If Williamson continues to progress he COULD be a hell of a wide out. And if Williamson does make it, it will be because Childress stuck with him. After this season, T-Jack and these young receivers will have a year of experience playing together. Then there will be some time in the off season, training camp, and preseason. This offense AS IS will be damn good heading into next year. And we still have free agency and the draft to look forward to!! I like the direction the team is heading. And I think Childress is doing a great job!!!!!!!!! All our "D" needs is some off season adjustments and it should be MUCH improved. I do agree we need another QB. A good QB to compete with with T-Jack. I beleive Jackson will develope into a stand out NFL QB. But I wouldn't bet the house on it. It would be wise to have a GOOD back up plan in place.
