Wow. Preventing the Bears from going 97 yards with under two minutes to play to put an exclamation point on an exciting Eagles win should be an easy task for this impressive Eagles defense, right? Not exactly.
The Birds' defense picked an awfully bad time to let an opponent reach the end zone. Brian Griese led the Bears on a quick jaunt down the field to take the game right out of Philly's hands. He connected with Muhsin Muhammad for the game winner with 9 seconds left. Game over.
For most of the game, the Bears kept Donovan McNabb and the Eagles out of the endzone. The frustration was visible. But then, in the fourth quarter, the Eagles found the end zone! It was about time. That should have been the game-winner.
Donovan McNabb hit Matt Schoebel open across the middle for the touchdown that put the Eagles up 16-12 with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. McNabb showed quite a bit of emotion after the play, not something typical of number five. McNabb's accuracy may have again been suspect, but the key TD pass followed by an impressive scramble -- yes, scramble! -- for a first down late in the fourth overshadowed the misplaced passes.
We've become too accustomed to seeing a pouty McNabb on the sidelines late in a games. It was pretty awesome to see McNabb pumped up with excitement, even if it only lasted a few brief moments.
Omar Gaither's name was called repeatedly throughout and on the most crucial play of the game. Gaither made a stop on third and goal on about the 6 inch line, which kept Chicago to a field goal.
Fox analyst Brian Baldinger, who I enjoy for the most part, was giving props to Eagles punter Sav Rocca for keeping the ball out of Devin Hester's hands. But what Baldy didn't point out was the horrible punt in the third quarter which gave the Bears the ball at midfield, setting them up for the go-ahead field goal. Sav made up for it big time with a huge punt with two minutes remaining in the fourth, pinning the Bears inside their own 3 yard line.
You already know what happened after that.

I reran the dvr twice.....and the officials goofed.
It shows the bears field goal and the clock stopping at 10:21. they come back to kick-off and after resettting the clock to 11:21 say it needs to be 9:21. did they get confused by the commercials?

Yeah, I'm a Bears fan and it was pretty sweet from this side. To tell you the truth though, I didn't expect it.
The Bears didn't play horrible on offense, but never finished a drive. When they called three short passes to start that last drive, plus the nice punt, I didn't expect them to come back.

the eagles do this to us every week in a close game for three years in a row. Don't we ever learn from our mistakes? Reid and his team have to go. The Eagles fans deserve more than the weekly meltdown in the final quarter of the game.We are becoming total losers with a quarterback who is afraid to leave the pocket and a line who can't remember the importance of the two minute minute end zone drill.

Again McNabb is laughing & smiling after bad passes thrown & touchdowns NOT scored etc. He can laugh all the way OUT OF TOWN. I find none of McNabb's failings so funny. I don't find all the losing something to LAUGH at & yuk it up about either. If I was making HIS money, I guess I'd find it all a joke too. He's the joke here. Perhaps had he concentrated more on the field & got SERIOUS instead of being a clown out there... he'd coplete his passes & see open receivers and score points. Some SUPERSTAR QB McNabb is.

The Eagles' Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid have got to go. The Chunky Soup QB has only gotten the Eagles into the endzone twice over the past two weeks and the players appear not to want to go to battle for him as they did for Garcia last year. The McNabb-Reid era has come to an end and time for Jeff Lurie to turn the reigns of the team over to someone like Bill Parcells.

As a former Philadephian, the fans will drive mcnabb out of Philly."stubborn"reid who has let premier players go by without even trying to get them, will keep him rather givein to the fans.Mcnabb hada job with the bears and Atlanta but his piss poor play probably has eliminated that.He is not the QB of just a few years ago.Reid has a orgasnm over Kolb and I exprct to see him at QB within 3 games

When the lockerroom is bare - would someone please put some explosive device in McNabb's locker? It would cheer up the troops rooting for Philly. He's let them down along with all of the STATE. Go play with T.O. Donny - you seem to need the lightening up yer arse to think straight.

The eagles are actually where they belong. On paper
they are an average young team. Donavan is coming off
of a serious knee injury, kearse also. I mean who didn't see this coming? The detroit game was a shocker I will admit. They will win 3 games this year. Every year they say that they are the team to
beat and that the franchise is the gold standard.
Listen they had a good run and even made it to the super bowl but that was then. And the only gold standard that the cheap owner cares about is the one in Switzeerland. (buillion)

Top free agent QB of 2008: Donovan McNabb.
Who could use an actual QB: Vikings (to replace Tavaris Jackson cause he sucks), Miami (they need somebody right now), and Chicago (Griese ain't getting any younger and Grossman probably will be gone after this season)
Eagles QB in 08-09 season: Kevin Kolb
As for Andy Reid, he'll be elsewhere.

REID AND JOHNSON ARE NOT THE PROBLEM.
UNFORTUNATLY MCNABB HAS FINALLY GOTTEN UNDER MY SKIN
AFTER YEARS OF DEFENDING HIM I HAVE FINALLY HAD ENOUGH. YOU TAKE AWAY HIS RUNNING AND HE IS A BELOW AVERGE QUATERBACK. YOU NEED A 4 MINUTE EXECUTION.
YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR DEFENSE FRESH. YOU NEED TO THROW TO RECIEVERS IN THE END ZONE NOT OVER OR BEHIND THEM. FIELD GOALS ARE NOT THE ANSWER. THANKS MCNABB FOR ANOTHER LONG WEEK AND A SHORT SEASON. YES I BLAME MCNABB. MAYBE HE SEES THE WRITING ON THE WALL AND DOESN'T CARE I DON'T KNOW. VERY DISAPPOINTED AGAIN. KEEPLOSING SO WE GET A DECENT DRAFT PICK BECAUSE WE ARE ALREADY OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS.
SMILE ABOUT THAT NEXT TIME YOU UNDER OR OVER THROW YOUR TARGET JACK OFF

Yeah... How many times have we seen this same situation play out? How many games? Over how many YEARS now? Ried & Johnson keep doing the same things in the same situations, in the same circumstances expecting differing results & the same things keep happening. It's enough to make you batty. Why do I REMEMBER these lessons learned but they DON'T? This "prevent" defense ALLOWS FOR EVERYTHING.... including POINTS. Andy Ried is how many years past due on his 5 year plan? I say no new contract for the way too soon "PRE-ordained"... GREAT QB who never won a thing McNabb. He's STILL throwing passes behind people, over their heads, at their feet. He sucks! He won't last 2 more seasons ANYWHERE. He won't hold up physically. Mark my words.

BOY, YOU PHILLY FANS SOUND LIKE A BUNCH OF CACKLING HENS! I'VE NEVER HEARD SO MUCH WHINING AND BELLY ACHING. FACE IT, YOU HAVE A SORRY TEAM, A SORRY OWNER, AND YOU'RE SOME SORRY FANS. MCNABB AND REID ARE NOT THE PROBLEM, YOU CAN'T WIN WITH NO TALENT AND A CHEAP OWNER. HOW SADISTIC IS IT TO WISH MCNABB'S LOCKER TO BE LOADED WITH EXPLOSIVES? THAT IS REALLY SICK BUT, THEN AGAIN PHILLY FANS ARE A BUNCH OF MORONIC IDIOTS.
