Jaguars Urge Fans to Wear Manly Teal

The Jags front office requests their fans to "teal up" and wear the color teal for Jacksonville's home game against the Texans this weekend. The team, on the other hand, will be wearing their white jerseys because the teal is hotter. I suppose because it is genius to make the fans wear a hot jersey color but not the team.

The idea for making this game a Teal-Out was because they thought last week all the red in Kansas City looked great, so they want their fans to go all teal. (Note to Jags front office: the sea of red fans didn't help KC much. They lost. You were there so you should know that). The Jags believe in the teal because they beat Pittsburgh last year 9-0 the last time the Jags requested their fans to go teal.

In an era where teams have dropped the teal from their uni colors as a trendy awful color and people ridicule it for being effeminate, I think it is great that the Jags are embracing it.

Guys have to be really secure in their masculinity to wander about wearing teal. It has to be good for jersey and shirt sales too, because it isn't like many guys have much teal in their wardrobe. A number of Texans fans, however, are non-impressed with the Teal-Out, mocking the Jags worries about TV blackouts, and have expressed this in photoshop:

I suppose that a Teal-Out is a great idea when you are having trouble selling tickets and all your seats are teal too.

I'm not sure that Forrest Gump would be a Jaguars fan. Check out this YouTube video to give you some real Jag fan flavor:

You know, I think I am much more fearful of mullets than the color teal.
