Man, winning really has changed the San Diego Chargers. Or more specifically, their fans. In the five years between Bobby Ross and Marty Schottenheimer the Chargers were 23-57, with guys named Whelihan, Harbaugh and Leaf handing off to Brown, Means and Fazande, and throwing passes to Martin, Jones and Graham. Good times.
Now, six year later -- and a year after Martyball was relegated to the scrap heap -- San Diego fans aren't a happy bunch. Not winning playoff games under Schottenheimer was one thing -- he did manage to go 47-33 during the regular season -- but getting crushed early in the season, with the same guys that went 14-2 last year, well, that's just too much.
The San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Stetz took a look around the internets and found some of the league's most despondent, dispirited fans. A sampling:
"In all sincerity, this is one of the lowest times to be a San Diego fan. Our city has seemingly endured worse (I remember the '03 season, when the Padres and Chargers were both laughingstocks), but this year was supposed to be different. . . . "Yeah, the Padres aren't helping things. Psychologist Richard Lustberg has some advice on how to cope when your team stinks: To get over the "loser blues," Lustberg recommends that downcast fans begin following another team.
Oh, it's that easy, huh? Of course, that doesn't do much for you if you're into San Diego sports. Instead, I suspect fans will put all their energies into getting Norvell run out of

You made two mistakes in this post.
1:
Now, six year later -- and a year after Martyball was relegated to the scrap heap, San Diego fans aren't a happy bunch.
This should read:

2:
Instead, I suspect fans will put all their energies into getting Norvell run out of time.

As someone who was fortunate enough to live in San Diego while I attended college there, I learned one thing very early on: If the Chargers and Padres aren't doing so well, you soon remember "I live San Di-frickin'-ego". It's pretty easy to get over a rough loss when it's 80 and clear, and there are hotties everywhere.

Try going bowling and have the bowling alley general manager paint the likeness of AJ Smith, Alex Spanos and Norv Turner on the bowling pins. When you throw a strike yell something and you will relieve stress.

San Diego Fans are not despondent. We are pissed off though because that moron A.J. Smith, has stripped the team of Brees, Edwards, Marty and seven coaches and replaced them with Novell, Rivers (who plays well only when not pressured), "Unknown" at line backer, and game plans which are stolen from some other team (they don't fit the talent in San Diego). Norvell hasn't a clue how to use L.T. and is wasting the league MVP and best player. Rivers acts as though he is the team instead of a part (a part which is not very effective). I believe Norvell should be managing a baseball team where he can count pitches. It seems he is counting the yards L.T. gets and stops using him when he reaches 60. He tried to correct that against the Chiefs but couldn't help himself when

Sorry charger fans, the football gods will never, ever, allow a team whose owner builds apartments in stockton, to ever win the superbowl. Ever.
