The Vikings are 1-3 and facing an upcoming schedule that will likely find them underdogs in each of their next five games. It's a bad combination, but say this for the Vikings, they may not be that great on the field, but this year's team is solid in the locker room.
"Usually this time, someone," cornerback Antoine Winfield said before playfully clearing his throat, "me would say something. But I'm not going to go that route. I mean, nothing good's going to come out of that. We are a close group."
There's plenty to gripe about, but thankfully the Vikings players are sticking together. That is a good sign that the team still has a chance to turn things around. If the offense can just get Adrian Peterson a little help, that might be enough to turn some of these close losses (three losses by a total of 13 points) into wins.
A 12-4 season may be out the window (not that it was ever a real possibility), but Minnesota does have a chance to surprise some teams in the upcoming weeks. Philadelphia, Chicago and San Diego are significantly more talented than Minnesota, but they all share the same 1-3 record as the Vikings, and there's a lot more discord going on in Philly (Is Donovan McNabb Mistreated?), San Diego (Fire Norv Turner!) and Chicago (Do We Have A Quarterback?), than there is in Minnesota.
If the Vikings could take advantage of some of those troubles and steal away a couple of wins in October, they could right this ship pretty quick. But they need to pull off an upset or two in October because it becomes real hard for a 1-7 or 2-6 team to turn things around.

What a joke. as long as this coach is in there teams will have their way with the vikings. The coach doesn't care about wins. He cares about ten years down the road. This guy has this great plan and has ziggy convinced he knows what hes doing. By the time he will get what he wants the Great players that are here will go elsewhere out of boredom and not being used for there potentual. AP is young but won't be when childresses idea team is assembled. We wouldn't mind winning a couple now but thats not in his plans just excuses.
I have said it before and I will say it again this coach couldn't coach a sneeze and Wilf is still backing him thinking the fans love it. thats a joke they are fustrated and tired of rebuilding. How about winning evey chance instead of hoping for a break in the fourth quarter and maybe winning by a feild goal.
As long as this guy is coach the team hasn't got a chance. Thanks for nothing Childress and Ziggy. Hope your enjoying your payoffs, cause you shurely aren't playing to win.

from all the fans in Boise,Idaho(we are many)why do we not have any front line blocking?,no body to throw the ball,no one to catch it,and the play calling is horable. we watch the games every sunday at a local pub and grill(about 30 each week)and we are tired of hanging our heads over these stupid losses.Coach Childress better find a way to win and now!!!!

Childress has shown time and again he's a poor decision maker. Now your big draft day pick sits in moments of need. What is going on in his head?
He can't run a good offense. (or put one together)
He can't pick the right quarterback. (how many good ones slipped away in free agency?)
And he doesn't use the tools at hand properly. (Adrian Peterson on the bench?)
He was the ONLY person in all of football that thought Tavaris Jackson (who will be great one day) was ready. The ONLY one. That shows great self delusion. Shades of Les Steckle anyone?

Sure the childress company had a great draft this year. But I haven't seen any concistancies on offense. It's unreal how his is the only WestCoast that can't produce. It's not all of T-Jacks fault. He's a young player with HUGE upside. He just has to learn, and sadly in the NFL its always the long hard road for a learning curve. I hate how (supposed) fans are jumping all over him....if this were the case with all teams P. Manning would never be a QB right now. Most of whats going on his playcalling...lack of blocking...and reciever inconcistancies.
