Fire Turner. Hire Schottenheimer. Now.

I'm completely serious. Chargers owner Dean Spanos needs to pick up the phone tonight, call Marty Schottenheimer, and say this:

"Hey, Marty. Remember back in February, when I fired you? Yeah, how about we take a do-over on that? What's that? You want me to fire A.J. Smith? Done. The locksmith is on his way to A.J.'s office door as we speak. You said you want to be the highest-paid coach in the league? Sure. You want your brother to be your assistant head coach? You got it. Whatever you want, just please, come back and coach our team, right now."

Norv Turner has done a horrible job as the Chargers' head coach, and the Chargers have now dropped to 1-3 and all alone in last place in the AFC West. But it's not too late for the Chargers to make a run to the playoffs. The whole division is weak, and the Chargers undoubtedly have better overall talent than the Chiefs, Broncos or Raiders. If Schottenheimer showed up tomorrow as their head coach, those talented players would be inspired to go out and play like hell.

Is it going to happen? No. But it should. Firing Norv Turner and hiring Marty Schottenheimer right now is the only way to save the Chargers' season.
