Chukky Okobi may have spent a long career as a very well-paid Steelers backup center, but he's not exactly thrilled with the Steelers.Okobi ripped new coach Mike Tomlim yesterday, saying that he was never given a fair shot at winning the center job, and he should have made the final roster.
"To think I wasn't good enough to be on that team is ridiculous," said Okobi. "But I know how this business works. I've been in this league a long time. Part of it is money, and they're doing what they feel they need to do. It's their team now. It's not Bill Cowher's team."Okobi may be complaining, but he's back in the same job he was with Pittsburgh--backup center. His complaint has some merit--Mahan was the likely starting center from the minute he signed as a free agent, but Okobi's struggles against nose tackles gave the Steelers a reason to go searching for a different center. And hey, he collected more than $10 million as a backup center, which has to be one of the best gigs anyone has ever gotten.
