Several media sources are reporting that Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is getting closer to agreeing to plead guilty to federal conspiracy charges related to a dog fighting operation that ran on his property. From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: "It is a very good chance he will plead guilty," said one of the people who spoke on condition of anonymity. "He definitely wants to play football again. His love is for football. And he would love to play for the Falcons again. But first and foremost is to get back on the field."There seem to be two complicating factors. First, Vick still wants a deal in which he can serve less than a year in prison, and so far prosecutors are balking at that. And secondly, Vick wants some assurance that a guilty plea won't lead to a lifetime ban from the NFL, and ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will offer no such guarantee.
Prosecutors have reportedly told Vick he has until 9 a.m. Friday to accept the deal, and if he doesn't they'll pull the offer and potentially charge him with additional crimes. If the case isn't wrapped up by tomorrow, a grand jury could convene Monday to hear additional evidence.

I cannot believe the prosecuters would offer him a plea deal before the other serious charges have not been brought against him. I believe the plea deal should have been made after the new charges. It seems to me the celebrities get off so easy every time. It is not fair for everyone else. WHY??? The stars get away with murder. Our system of law needs to be changed. I heard the judge was hard on criminals even if they have star ststus. I can't wait for him to prove it.

If the NFL lets this thug ever play again after this gambling infraction they will have no credibility and others will take it as a opportunity to get away with gambling. The dog killing will haunt him the rest of his life.(Go Peta)

How nice for him! He wants Goddell to assure him that he can still play in the NFL? Maybe those dogs that were tortured and killed wanted some assurance that they would be treated with some humanity! This guy commits hideous, brutal crimes and his main concern is playing football! I hope Goddell shows some conviction and integrity and bans him for life.

There's no way a team could take him on as A QB if he did plead guilty and served time. Protests and answering questions about dog fighting is not something a team would want to deal with.
Vick should just be worried about avioding RICO charges.

like most criminals that are caught, he is showing remorse at what he has been accused of, but to try and strike a deal when they have all the cards against him, that is just desperate and stupid.
Feds should withdraw any offer when these other two defendants plead guily and pledge to cooperate.
3 years minimum baby with a lifetime ban!

If he even gets back out on the field---I hope the defense gets him, but good!!!!!!He doesn't deserve to play for the NFL...What an ego----he doesn't care about anybody but himself. Maybe they should investigate any missing kids around the area he was--probably find their bones with the poor defenseless dogs he killed

So, all you people that want to hang Mike Vick, guess you didn't take any medication today or used any cosmetics either, right? Because if you did, some animal was used to get that product out of research and to market. The military euthanizes working dogs all the time. Didn't see you picketing the Pentagon. Vick's biggest crime is he's black!

Liz, right on! Vick wants this or that. He's in no position to demand anything. It's jailtime and you can forget about football. say some prayers about those dogs you killed and forget about some stupid game.

How about the truth! Double standards exist. Ignore them if it makes you feel better. Guess profiling is just the race card too!

Vick(scumbag) had it all but when he gets caught breaking the law we always hear its a race issue.Jeff Fisher sits his black QB out last week because of a rules infraction and some fools say its a race thing. Some blacks will always find an excuse for their failures. The majority of black atheletes have enough smarts to know how to act and to disassociate themselves with thugs and losers.Apparently Vick isnt that smart.Although he has a VT diploma I doubt he could pass a GED test.

He is a very selfish and evil person. He shouldn't
be in society. Torturing and killing dogs are the
beginnings of an unstable mind that some of the
nations worst mass murderers have confessed started
them down their path of self destruction.

Oh, now that he's been caught, he thinks of his football career. I hope Goodell tells him "Sorry, Mike, but your career has gone to the dogs" I'm praying for a lifetime ban, after a couple of years in jail.

Vick should do the time.......no excuse for torturing and killing innocent animals....he apparrently has no respect for life so he should receive no respect.
As far as the NFL....there is alot of other talent to replace him.

I can't believe that he wants to play in the NFL. If any person who isn't a celeb plead guilty to a crime or went to jail it would be hard for us to get a job at a gas station, but we would put him back in the NFL? Umm no. He should be banned for life.

Why not take the deal he cant even defend hisself because everyone involved id doing the same thing. I dont see nobody saying anything about that and besides people take deals everyday and for dog fighting come on people its an underground sport that nor you or I see everyday. Those dogs that loss there fights and were killed were going to be killed anyway by the humane society anyway so vick and his peers did right and killing the dogs that were useless to them at least they gave the dogs a proper burial in the ground and didnt cut them up in pieces and put in bags and threw them in the garbage or something. As for as his football he should not be banned this was not a football related incident so he should the year long suspention dating back to when the nfl asked him not to report to camp. Pete rose got the ban for life but its past time for him to be back in the league, society can judge him forever or any other person those guys made mistakes and have and will do there time and they need be allowed to move on with there lives.
