Giants Training Camp Notebook is a cliff notes style post aimed at giving Giants fans up-to-date news about the most recent training camp practices.- Many people thought cornerback Kevin Dockery was going to "break out" last year, but unfortunately that never happened. However, with the new season comes a new opportunity and so far Dockery is making the most of it. He had another good practice yesterday and his constant motor is earning him a ton of respect in the locker room.
- The Giants have a huge dilemma on their hands that doesn't involve injuries. Its punt returns and who is going to field them. They tried a variety of people yesterday including Michael Jennings, Ahmad Bradshaw, R.W. McQuarters and Sinorice Moss. Rookie Aaron Ross is also a consideration.
- Brandon Jacobs leads as intensely as he plays. Yesterday during sprints, he happened to notice that fullback Robert Douglas was merely jogging and it was on from there. Jacobs lit into Douglas and you can bet that he'll never jog during sprints again.
- Guy Whimper has managed to play himself out of a starting job before the first preseason game. General Manager Jerry Reese said on WFAN yesterday that the battle between Whimper and David Diehl is "basically over." This, of course, came after another practice in which Whimper was repeatedly beaten by third-string players.
Rapid Fire:
- Osi Umenyiora beat David Diehl for another sack.
- Gerris Wilkinson's injury is being called a "subluxation of his right kneecap." He is expected to miss about 2-4 weeks.
- Amani Toomer is looking like Amani Toomer.
- As of yesterday, Michael Strahan's fines equal $171,456.
- By the way, Eli Manning looked good again.

Dan thanks for the GIANTS' training update Bro.
'preciate it bro!
Still feel that with Manning at the QB helm we are not going anywhere, on paper we have a pretty good team this year but the QB position bro, that's killing us Bro. Sorry but it is the sad truth bro, and the truth hurt Bro. He is really a fogaysi that guy Manning is. Forgetaboutit Bro!

I have not seen one positive word on Whimper and nothing at all on Koets. Is there any hope for a decent backup or are they looking to other teams cuts for that job?

How are supposed Giant fans bad mouthing Eli left and right? Do you guys actually watch the games? From the garbage that some of you type I can tell you've never been a serious athlete in your life. Eli will be good; it's called growing pains... It's not like the instant coffee you drink in the morning while you type your trash.

its like i said before.these so called giant fans are starting to get on my nerves.Eli has passed for 24 tds and over 3000 yds in has two seasons not including spearheading quite a few comeback 4th quarter victories. When the giants make the playoffs this year i hope i dont see any of these fair weather pseudo fans gloat about how wonderful Eli is.It seems kinda obvious that some of you guys never got beyond pee wee football

Thanks for the updates..I am really concerened about the secondary..It seems like a repeat of last season. I think both the off and def line will be ok, but pass coverage sucked last year. Is Ross improving and how is Webster doing?
