The Virginian-Pilot has a profile of the judge assigned to the Michael Vick dog fighting case, and the news generally doesn't sound good for the Falcons quarterback.Vick will face a tough, fair federal judge as he defends himself against dogfighting charges and will not get special treatment because of his status as an NFL star, legal experts said Wednesday.U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson, a Bush appointee assigned to the Vick case, is known in legal circles as a jurist who rarely grants defendants leniency and who also rarely sees his cases overturned on appeal.
For Vick, the most noteworthy part of the article may be that Hudson is likely to set a trial date of about four months from now, and he will not consider a delay until after the NFL season. That means that Vick might have to be in court in Virginia, missing practice, every day of December. It's hard to imagine a quarterback playing on Sundays if he hasn't been practicing with his team.

All the money that NFL players make, you would think some of it would be spent on more positive things. Not in this inhumane, sadistic, cruel way of torturing animals. He will serve his punishment on judgement day.

MV is guilty as sin. He is a disgrace, if he isn't suspened for life soon, the NFL, and the Falcons have some moral issues that need to be improved upon also.

Just another case of the BLACK MAN in sports proving he is not worth anymore now that he is making large amounts of money then he was when living in the "HOOD" selling drugs & stealing anything he could get his hands on. VICK is a prick & always has been & always will be. And Atanta is onlyu worried about the money they will loose or have to pay out. Neither Vick or the Falcons have any morals when it come to money. I hope Vick rots in hell with dogs biting his ass allthe time & takes that no count sorry asss brother of his with him. They are both nothing more then LOSERS. Always have been & always will be.

If Vick was involved, which he probably was, he should get the stifest possible sentence. He was a role model for thousands of kids, and definetely didn't live up to it. Nevermind the weed and herpes he gave to that poor lady(he knew he had it and still had unprotected sex with her), this is lower than low.

So here we go - just like the Kobe Bryant, Ray Carruth, Pacman Jones, Mike Tyson stories - we have another saga of a professional athlete - a Black man - superstar - engaging in illegal, brutal, morally bankrupt behavior - facing felony charges. And once again we see league and team officials running for cover like roaches when the bright light goes on. And, it brings out the race card playing Black Bigots whose shrill cries of discrimination and intentional targeting of black athletes will reach a fever pitch very soon. Notice how Vince Pasqarelli had to mention that the District Court Judge in this case was a "Bush Appointee"...why did he do that? How many cases, high profile or not, do you hear about who appointed the judge? The only time I usually read those lines is when it involves highly charged civil litigation or abortion cases. Hmmm..what's the intent here Vince? Of course, left leaning press folks, be they sportswriters or news journalists have a real dilemna - do they defend and stick with the side of the animal rights folks like the Humane Society, or side with the downtrodden racial apologists who view this as another way Whiteys in power are trying to keep the Black Man down in America? Vick's previous actions - smug, arrogance and defiance is going to be his downfall this time. He'll try to portray himself as the humble, "devastated", apologetic soul who "made mistakes" and is so sorry - but, it won't work. American sportswriters, advertisers, promoters etc..have so overhyped and exposed these guys - they cannot camoflage who they are anymore - he's done.

Boy!! I bet the Falcons wished they had traded Vick instead of Matt. I didn't think the Falcon owners was that dumb. But I guess the indictment speaks for itself. Thats what happens when you keep looking the orther way when crimes are committed evenually it will come home to you as it did the Falcon organization.

Vick is a coward. Anyone who participates in any form of dog fighting is cruel and disturbed. I say we throw Vick in a pen w/ some mangy, hungry pit bulls and let them "have at him". Vick, you are a sick bastard and I personally will NEVER watch or buy anything with your name or team logo on it. NFL and the Falcons know what they need to do. Get rid of Vick! He belongs in a jail cell, not a football field.

I am disgusted by this man! He has been a role model for kids? Yeah right!! He is a felon, a druggie, a STD-passing LOSER! I don't care if his arm is like a cannon and his precision unmatched (though it is not the case...), he needs to face his punishment like any "normal" jerk and pay for what he has done. His cruelty seems to surpass most dog-fighters, and I think that all dog-fighters should be punished severely. I have a wonderful pit who is my 2-year-old son's best friend, step-stool, pony, and companion, and it is people like VICK and his pals that make people around me cringe when they see me dog! The dogs are always the ones who wind up paying for the negligence and idocacy of those who "care" for them. Lock him up and toss the key!!!
As it says in Proverbs 12: 10
"A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel."
He will be judged by a more fair and loving judge when he stands before our God: let's see if He grants lienency or if Vick can have that judgement appealed!
Good riddance to bad garbage! And if the NFL doesn't throw him out they will lose this fan for certain.

As an owner of five dogs and a loyal NFL football fan I have to say this entire Michael Vick situation has literally made me sick. Every time I pet, walk, or play with my dogs and think of what he did to those helpless animals I feel like i have to vomit. As a New Orleans Saints fan I pray I will never have to see him on the field or on TV again.
When the Saints played the Falcons last season in Atlanta I watched Vick flip the finger to our beloved Saints fans. May GOD have mercy on his pathetic soul.

...this is America, right? Innocent until proven guilty? IF Vick is guilty (and it looks like he is) he should go to jail. IF he's guilty, may God have mercy on his soul. IF he's guilty, he should be ashamed of himself and he's not a role model. But that's still an "if."

Vick is a scum bag, if he were hanged and shot each and every damn time he gave a bad performance, his ass would have been dead a long time ago. he wont go to jail, he's rich, famous. In reality hes a damn thug with lots of cash, and absolutly does not have a conscience whatsoever. My days of watchin the Falcons are over man, if they do not release him.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU are A SICK MAN!!! I wish with all my heart that your life would be ruined for the cruel and in humane treatment of these poor dogs. How do you call yourself a human being???? Your a disgrace to your family and all the young children who idolize you. I'm a grandmother who will make sure none of my family or grandsons EVER buy anything that has your name on it and if the Atlanta Falcons and the NFL don't take immediate and swiff action against you I will never buy another product nor support my favorite team. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do the right thing.

Fights would end when one dog died or with the surrender of the losing dog, which was sometimes put to death by drowning, strangulation, hanging, gun shot, electrocution or some other method, according to the documents.
The above is a paragraph from the indictment so I've got a better idea. Let the Vick play and as soon as he loses let the Fans chose his demise

The real animal here is Michael Vick. He needs to get the stiffest penalty the law allows. He DESERVES much worse than that; too bad we've become so civilized (something he obviously hasn't done). If he ever plays ball again, anyone who employs him should be boycotted by everyone who ever was a supporter. It's about time that people like him should be totally and permanantly ostrasized. If he ever plays again, I want the NFL and the Falcons (or any team that ever plays him) to know that they will never again receive a penny of my (and as many people as I can convince to do the same)money or support. Get rid of this piece of trash! P.S. I like comment 18 from this morning; maybe we should give that one serious consideration.
