Broncos wide receiver David Kircus was bound over to district court this week on a felony assault charge, and his accuser, Jeffrey Krieger, described the early morning hours of May 20, when he escorted Kircus from his home and was punched in the face, suffering multiple fractures below his right eye.The most extraordinary part of all this is how the Rocky Mountain News describes the defense Kircus apparently plans to mount:
Kircus' attorney, Harvey Steinberg, painted a picture of a drunken Krieger and suggested that he was the aggressor, saying at one point Krieger had placed his hand on Kircus' arm as he led him out of the house.
OK, let's say the guy really did place his hand on Kircus's arm. So what? That means Kircus is free to punch him in the face, breaking multiple facial bones? They were at Krieger's home, and Krieger wanted Kircus to leave. Kircus should have left. If the best defense he's got for rearranging a guy's face is that the guy put his hand on his arm, Kircus deserves the five to 16 years in prison he can get if convicted.

Man, you always speculate about things that we have no idea if it's true or not. When I first came to this site, you were one of my favorite writers, but now its just way too much man. You should start to write for People Magazine or some sort of paparazzi piece. You certainly do not belong to be writing about sports, it's that simple.

Getting the feeling this isn't going to end well. From Subway, to the pros, to the slammer. Man, that sucks.

Michael David Smith....
You have got to be kidding me!
Do you actually think that one man deserves 5 to 16 years in prison for punching another "grown" man in the face?
If some drunk guy grabbed your arm and you just tucked your tail between your legs and did not stand up for yourself, you should be ashamed.
I see community service for a decent punishment but 16 years in prison?
You agree with this?
You must be the victims brother....you are ridiculous

This is so insane, first lets see what the case shows us and what the verdict is. Second, Who out of us hasn't gotten in a fight, especially being shoved out of a house. If this had been Peyton Manning aor Jay Cutler, both of which have no record, but could easily get drawn into a fight, people, would be saying that this guy was a blood sucker looking for a payday. I hope Kircus clears the charges and has a monster year.

Hey Moron,
That's his side of the story. Why do you automatically believe him. Is he your lover or something. And by the way if he did place his had on Kircus' arm that could also be considered assault. You don't think this guy did a little more than he said he did. You are just like all other nerds. You pick a fight with an athlete, get your ass kicked, the cry like a little girl that you did nothing at all. Get a life, NERD!
