Last year when undrafted rookie free agent linebacker John DiGiorgio earned a spot on the Bills 53-man roster, it was considered an amazing feat. However, that appears to be only the beginning of this feel-good story. While it still seems like a bit of a reach, DiGiorgio could actually earn a starting spot this year.
"I think my chances are pretty good as long as I'm doing the right things, I'm making the right calls, getting everybody lined up and just going out there and making plays," Di- Giorgio said. "Competition is what this game is all about. Poz is a great player, but I want that spot as well as he does, and we're going to compete for it."DiGiorgio is currently practicing as the Bills starting middle linebacker, but that's subject to change. Rookie linebacker Paul Posluszny (Penn State) is expected to eventually take over the reigns.
But to DiGiorgio's credit, he's not making the decision easy on Buffalo's coaches. He's hung in there well and turned a lot of heads this offseason. He's showing an incredible ability to lead and has earned the respect of the coaches and his teammates.
