A regular look at when we can expect to see the 2007 rookie quarterback class on the field. He'll start right away if: He doesn't hold out. There's already been some talk that Quinn and his agent might tell the Browns they think they deserve more money than the 22nd overall pick would ordinarily get. The Browns would likely tell Quinn that they don't see it that way. A lengthy holdout would hinder Quinn's ability to learn Cleveland's offense and delay his development.
He'll hold the clipboard if: Charlie Frye shows some ability to be a professional quarterback in training camp that he hasn't shown so far in two years in the NFL. Romeo Crennel and his staff know they'll be out of a job if they don't turn the team around this season, and if they think they can win with Frye, they'll play him. But what would make them think they can win with Frye?
Most likely scenario: Quinn might not like the contract the Browns offer him, but he knows he has endorsement opportunities coming from his golden boy image, and he doesn't want to tarnish that image by looking like the stereotypical greedy athlete. He'll be in camp on time and earn the starting job.
Projected first start: September 9, 2007. Cleveland plays Week 1 at home against the Steelers, and nothing would get the Dawg Pound fired up more than seeing the quarterback of the future.

Im not sold on Quinn's most likely scenario being stating from week 1, when the Browns have the more competent backup between Oakland and Cleveland, and you have Russell not starting in Week 1. Okay, maybe you could make a case for Quinn being more "NFL ready," but I just dont see it happening that way given the teams. But if Quinn does work out and stay healthy, then the Browns would have to young promising QB's behind Quinn to trade.

Starting a rookie at left tackle and a rookie at QB is not the way to win football games with your job on the line. Crennel (who hates starting rookies) is going to go with the QB who gives him the best chance to win, and in week 1, that'll be Frye.

Yeah Jon because the way they were doing it before won them so many games. ;)
I'm not saying they SHOULD start Quinn - I actually hope they don't - that's too much pressure for a rookie QB (esp given all of the ridiculous ppl watching, waiting for him to screw up and become the bust) but I think he'll start after a few games if Frye doesn't prove his worth.
Can you post a link of where you've heard Quinn isn't happy with the money he's getting at 22nd. I find that hard to believe since he's been quoted saying "I didn't lose money I never had" regarding his drop in the draft but you just never know...

Jon-
So you think Frye gives them the best chance of winning? He didn't do that the two years that he was starting so what makes you think that he can win this coming season?

Justin,
Because we all know rookie QB's give you a great chance to win early in the season, especially when you're breaking in rookie linemen. It simply amazes me how quickly people forget about the past QB blunders of such a young franchise. I never said Charlie Frye is going to lead this team to the Super Bowl this season, but he does give them the best chance to win in week 1.

What people need to remember is that Charlie Frye played without much help. It won't matter what QB starts if the line isn't doing its job.

I agree with Jon. Frye OR Anderson gives the Browns the best chance of winning. Quinn is young, and everyone tends to forget Quinn IS A ROOKIE!!! Romeo is too smart of a coach to start Quinn. Frye is a much better QB. Actually I like DA ( Anderson ) better
because he sees the entire field. He does his checkdowns quicker than Frye, and gets rid of the ball quicker than Frye. Hopefully Frye learned from his mistakes in the off season, and will be a better QB this season. I think steph44 has a crush on Quinn, and Justin must be a Notre Dame fan. These are NOT the reasons Quinn should start..... they are the precisely the reasons NOT to start him. A true Browns fan wants what is best for the team. Remember that.
