Remember that Bears fan who had one too many and told his friends that if the Bears lost, he would legally change his name to Peyton Manning? Yeah, turns out a judge in Decatur, Illinois, won't let him own up to that bet.Wiese said that Macon County Circuit Judge Katherine McCarthy told him the name change was too confusing and risked infringing the privacy of the football player.
Wiese had gone through with the legal name change attempt to fulfill a bet with friends. The 26-year-old Forsyth man - a diehard Chicago Bears fan - had pledged that if his beloved team lost in the Super Bowl, he would change his name to the player who led the Indianapolis nemesis to victory.
''I had told the judge that I was not doing this because I wanted to change my name, but I was doing it because I was honoring a bet,'' Wiese said. ''I think she understood that.''
She also understood that alcohol makes people say and do really, really stupid things. Drink responsibly, kids, or else you might wake up one day and find people greeting you with, "How's it goin', Pacman?"

He should have legally asked to change his name to Ball Bag for making the bet.
Thank you Judge...at least someone in this whole fiasco is finally demonstrating some common sense. But you have to admit it does make you wonder what this guy has ever done under the influence.
Good move by the judge to prevent the name change from Scott Wiese to Peyton Manning solely on a Super Bowl bet. Scott settle for buying Colts jerseys instead.
OK, Lapistola, that was freakin' awesome. "Ball Bag" is a perfect name for that drunk schmuck who made the bet. Email your idea to the judge and lets get a petition signed and let the legal system work it's magic to welcome "Ball Bag" into society.
thats the funniest thing ive heard in awhile but whats wrong with letting him change his name its his choice bet or no bet its times like these i question our countries freedom haha
this is the funnies thing ive seen in awhile but why shouldnt he be allowed to no matter how dumb it is let the guy be an idiot sometimes i question our freedom in this country
Too bad he didn't bet to have a sex change operation... the judge probably would have allowed that.
The judge should have let him change his name, then maybe he'd consider the consequences before he makes another stupid bet. If your gonna bet on the outcome of a sporting event, the stakes have to be something that's humiliating, like shaving your entire body and doing the Macarena in the courthouse square.
