On Saturday we told you about the rumors that Ron Jaworski was replacing Joe Theismann on Monday Night Football, and on Sunday we told you that ESPN said it had nothing to announce. Now the New York Times is one of a handful of newspapers reporting that ESPN will make it official today. Theismann is expected to be offered another job at the network, but no one could blame him if he decides to walk away entirely: After all, Theismann has been one of the commentators for ESPN's NFL broadcasts for nearly two decades, making him one of the most prominent sportscasters in television. Any job the Worldwide Leader could offer him would be perceived as a major demotion.
Jaworski, of course, will be great. He always provides in-depth analysis that hard-core fans like, but he doesn't get bogged down in coaching jargon that could confuse casual fans. He'll also make his partner, Tony Kornheiser, better. He and Kornheiser have a natural chemistry, as evidenced by Jaworski's frequent appearances as a guest on Pardon the Interruption, and that chemistry should make the Monday Night broadcast better for everyone.

This has to be the best news in like the history of news! Bye-bye cliche! Hello relivant, interesting comments! Tony has to be pissed about this one! If he looks only marginally short on brains sitting beside Theisman, he'll need to wear a bike helmet sitting next to Jaws!
How about this. Keep Theismann. Get rid of Cornheiser!
AMEN!!! To getting rid of Cornhizer !
Obviously ESPN doesn't care about their viewers opinions or whom football fans want to commentate the games. How is it possible to out Theisman instead of Kornheiser? WOW! It's like picking Howard Cosell over John Madden or Chris Berman. It's as bad as when ABC put Dennis Miller on Monday night football. One word for this ... PATHETIC!!!!!!
im glad joe is gone!i turn the sound dowm on mon nite cant stand him,he must think the viewers never whatched a game before!
I LOVE JOE
I think Jaws and Kornheiser will be great - If you have ever seen PTI with Jaws on, they have a great rapport and Tony seems to at least respect Jaws comments. I think Theisman was always talking down to Kornheiser so Tony just tuned him out. They never had a chemistry. Jaws will be great!!
Theisman is way overdue for leaving. He should take "Corn-holer" with him. Between the negativity and arrogance they have become the worst sportscasters in the history of MNF.
Joe Theismann was the best thing going on Monday Night Football. Cornheiser should never have been hired for that show. Monday night football has a long history of having great announcers, however, they really screwed up when Cornheiser was hired. Keep Joe and fire Cornheiser.
Thank you....my prayers have been answered! I couldn't agree more with the poster who said they turned down the sound to keep from listening to Joe over explaining every single thing going on in the game like all viewers were morons who had no clue what football was. This is the best news I have heard this year...hoooo rayyyyy!
Thank you ESPN. Theissmann is brutal. Hey Joe, the game's a little different now than when you were a mediocre talent in the NFL. Button it up every now and then!!
Ireally believe Ron will do a great job,not just because of his knowledge of football, but also his communication skills are very adept. I love Rons personality and ability to have fun at work, while not losing focus.Go Ron,you'll do a great job as always.I want to wish Joe T.the very best,at whatever he chooses to do and I know it'll all work out for him, because he's good at what he does.
Thank god, Theisman is terrible, Kornheiser is great, and MNF will be alot better with Jaws!!
Ron Jaworski is exactly why you hire a former NFL player, but...where very few have actually come through, with fast insights that you respect from their time on the field wearing the uniform, or explaing in a quick and strong opinion of why certain things work or not... And, in th eshort times i do see him on air, he always sounds prepared and tells you where he got his facts, vs. , just opinions...
I don't have a bad opinion of Theismann , a leader, smart with a record as well, but perhaps... with his looks, he became a little too much a TV personality,( and he knew what he was doing...and where the camera was...) his humor, funny, maybe wore a little thin after a while, vs., real fotball discussion, facts...Don't like to see anyone lose a job, but I see this as a positive.

Kornheiser should go instead of Joe. He is terrible. I have watched Monday night for years and can't stand listening to it. Because Kornheiser does not know anything about the game. It is obvios that he could not stand Joe (because he knew more) and instead got involved in meaningless banter...ESPN needs to get rid of Kornheiser and save some viewers.. I'm turning MNF off until he goes..
Thank you ESPN, a long overdue move--Theismann was the worst color commentator in sports, swallowing the mic and changing his opinions and positions almost by the second. Jaws is insightful and a true student of the game--he will be good with Tony as well--listening just got better. Theismann and his ego should be banished to announce hockey games
Theismann was the worst color man ever , he thought we were all morons . Good riddens .
It makes no difference on Joe - I've been muting him for years anyway.
Who Listens to him. I've been hitting the mute button for years. lynda
