Just about everyone agrees that the Oakland Raiders will make LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell the first pick in the draft, but Peter King of SI.com says not so fast: I think you should not count Brady Quinn out of silver and black. Remember where you heard that first....I think no one at these meetings really knows what the Raiders will do with the top pick a month from now. Including them.
Although Mel Kiper states emphatically, "Quinn's not going to go to Oakland, Russell will," I think King is right that there's still a chance that the Raiders will take Quinn. It's always just about impossible to figure out who's running things in Oakland. Al Davis seems to be less of a hands-on owner than he used to be, but who would make the final decision if new coach Lane Kiffin disagrees with personnel man Michael Lombardi?
Ultimately, I think Russell probably goes first to the Raiders. But at this time last year, I thought Reggie Bush was going first to the Texans. Until the Raiders make their pick, we won't know for sure.

YOU SPORTSWRITERS MUST BE BORED OUT OF YOUR MIND TO KEEP BRINGING UP THE SAME DAMN TOPICS OVER AND OVER.WHY DON'T YOU WAIT TILL DRAFT DAY TO SEE WHO OAKLAND PICKS AND THEN TALK ABOUT IT.WE DON'T WORK FOR THE RAIDER'S ORGANIZATION AND I AM SURE AL DAVIS WON'T BE ASKING US FOR OUR OPINION ON WHO WE SHOULD DRAFT.SO JUST WAIT UNTIL DRAFT DAY AND SEE!
I would agree that the Raiders could use either one of these two QB's. The only thing that I have to ask is which one of these two individuals is a better leader? The Raiders don't have any leaders on offense. Every writer or reporter that I have come across has stated that Quinn is a better leader on and off the field. Where as Russell is more quiet and reserve. Using the last successful QB that the Raiders have had as a model ( Rich Gannon ).... Quinn appears to be more of what the Raiders need. I could go on for hours of the pros and cons of each... Let's just get the clock going on the draftboard !
Hey guys, I like the choices that the raiders have. Well for me I would take Calvin Johnson and he is the best player in the draft and it would have been nice to draft him. However, if the Raiders do get a QB Russell or Quinn, they better get some offensive lines that can protect these guys. I do not care who is the QB(Veteran or studd rookie qb) without the O-line protecting the QB. The QB is like the brain of the offense, and the O-line is the Skull. If the brain could not be protect then the brain is useless. Then, this would be a long season for the Raiders. QB Pros and cons about Russell: Pros He can throw 80+ yards, Tall and can take a lot of punishment. He also can run the field like culpepper but not sure if he is as good as culpepper. Cons: He needs to work on his mechanics, he seems like a guy that will slack off during practice, he relies heavily on his talent and he seems like someone that just want the money. But if you take him it's like a high risk high reward. Depending on his performance. As for Quinn, he has good work ethic, he loves the challenge, willing to study the plays, opponents, and he can read defense well, no issues off the field, good mechanics throwing, good mobility and accuracy is fine. If I were to pick one of those two QB, it is safer to get Quinn because he is much more ready to go than Russell. In addition, QB like Montana, Brady, Manning, just to name a few. All of them did not have a rocket arm but they had accuracy, game clock management, and the field vision. Again, I believe that Quinn has these qualities Game clock management (clutch), Accuracy, mobility and knowing how to read defense, good work ethics, and no distractions off the field. Gooo Raiders!!!!!
Look, Botoom line Quinn is the better Qb we need, he has more starts and has been in tough situations and went from loosing to winning. He isnt a 1 year or 1 game wonder. Russel could be just like ryan leaf. He has a canon for a arm but so did Jay schroeder. He has almost 50 starts under his belt and Russell has 29. The raiders has enough athletes, they need a leader and a Qb and thats Quinn. There dumb to pass on Quinn like they did Leinart.
