Mr. Johnson Goes to Jail

Today's the day. Well, actually, it was yesterday. But today's the day you get to read about it: Tank Johnson's officially incarcerated. The Chicago Tribune's Carlos Sadovi had the great honor of documenting Johnson's arrival at the Cook County Jail.

According to the sheriff's office, Johnson is in protective custody which, means he'll have his own cell and won't have contact with other inmates. Johnson was sentenced to 120 days, but could be released in half that time for good behavior. ("For good behavior" is a phrase I never expected to write on the NFL FanHouse ... but I also never expected to write "make it rain" either.)

Sadovi also provided some quotes from the peanut gallery soon-to-be inmates going through processing when Johnson arrived.
"People was hollering his name, saying, 'Tank why don't you bond us out. Why didn't you win the Super Bowl?,'" Randy Ford said.
And then there was this:
Cyrus Jones, 25, of Chicago, said he was among those placed into the security area when Johnson was led through. He said when someone criticized the Bears, Johnson briefly turned around.

"He was mostly looking at the other fans who said, 'We love you Tank,'" said Jones, who is charged with domestic battery... He said he knows Johnson will do fine inside jail.
Well, that's good news, I guess: Jones is sure Johnson won't have any trouble doing time. Whew.
