Yesterday, the FanHouse's Michael David Smith wrote that Randy Moss, a popular subject of trade speculation, probably wouldn't be moved because of his age, declining numbers, and potential salary-cap implications. Well, that didn't slow up the rumor mill. Here's the latest from Tampa Bay: The Raiders have not responded to the speculation [that the Bucs might be interested in Moss], but it wasn't long after the report surfaced Wednesday that football pundits began suggesting this might explain why the league has yet to receive Plummer's retirement papers.Yeah, and that's a pretty big hole too. Presumably, Plummer is retiring because he doesn't want to be a backup. If he ends up in Oakland -- even if the team drafts JaMarcus Russell -- Plummer would be the starter by default, at least for next season.
With the Raiders in the market for a quarterback, there was talk in league circles that the Bucs might try to make Plummer part of a deal for Moss. The hole in that theory, of course, is Plummer's supposed retirement plans.
It's still not clear why Tampa Bay traded for Plummer and then signed Jeff Garcia to a two-year deal. If the club could somehow parlay that curious personnel decision into Randy Moss, well, I'd be impressed. Of course, there is no guarantee that the 2007 Randy Moss will be anything close to the pre-Raiders Randy Moss.

If the Raiders are able to acquire Plummer, this could be a serious shake up at the top of the draft with Calvin Johnson going to the Raiders.
Though that's not as interesting as how livid Shanahan would be with this development.
The article reads "Tampa Bay traded for Plummer." I'm a Broncos fan and I don't remember my team getting anything from the Bucs for Plummer. In fact, how could he be traded if he retired. Wouldn't he be a free agent at that point since his contract was voided?
While I'm on the subject of mistakes... are first graders writing these articles? I've never seen so many typos, grammatical errors and so much poor information.
Get it together, guys!!
Greetings Raider Nation.
I think that trading Moss for Jake "the Snake" Plummer would be a huge mistake. Plummer is not the short or the long-term answer for the Raiders. I have to question his commitment to playing football. Moreover, I do not think that he would be a good fit. You can get more out of Randy Moss by trading him for draft picks. Quanity is a premium for this team in order to rebuild. If the Raiders decide to select a QB with their pick, I think that the better play may be for David Carr from the Texans as a veteran. out.
Seeing as how Plummer still has not filed his retirement with the league, he is not retired. Did a 1st grader write that response? The trade (since you seem to have missed it) is for a draft pick next year as long as he reports.
Randy Moss to be traded to Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be great if the Raiders get quality players in return. Jake Plummer going to Oakland as the starting quarterback? Retirement would be short lived.
What the freak is king adrock talking about. So it is true, Bronco fans are morans.
First of all it wasent an artical that you read it was a blog. Second, If a player retires, the team he retires from still has the rights to retain his contract or sell/trade the rights of that contract which is what has been reported. THIRD You are only a free agent if the team releases you from the remaining years of that contract. Or ir you fulfilled the contract terms. Contracts are never voided but i think there is serious voids in your brain. Maybey its the lack of air. You should really consider getting off that crack and smashing that glass pipe.
