Kind of a weird situation in Kansas City with Trent Green, and it's getting stranger. Green had his sit down with GM Carl Peterson yesterday, and Peterson informed Green that the Chiefs wanted to restructure his deal. That, combined with the fact that Green's not even assured of the starting position, has led Trent to explore other possibilities.
The team told him they were fine with that, but that "it does not mean they are trying to peddle him nor does it mean they intend to release him." So the Chiefs aren't actively shopping him, and they're not going to release him, but if he finds a taker they're open to trading him. I'm not sure exactly how that works, as far as what the Chiefs would be getting back, but there are quite a few teams out there that would make sense for Trent Green.
Oakland is probably the most obvious, but it's tough to see the Chiefs helping out a division rival, especially when it's the Raiders.

AFTER GREENS CONCUSSION IT BECAME APPARENT FROM THE POOR LOW THROWS AND POOR ACCURACY THAT GREEN IS NOT THE SAME Q.B...OK/ AGREED ..WITH THAT IN MIND IM GUESSING THE CHIEFS ORGANIZATION FEEL HE IS NO LONGER A THREAT TO ANY TEAM AS A CHIEFS Q.B....SO WHY IS IT THAT SUDDENLY THERE ARE SURFACING REPORTS THAT THE CHIEFS DO NOT WANT HIM TO SIGN WITH THE RAIDERS ?? DOES THIS MEAN THAT THE CHIEFS DO STILL HAVE SOME QUESTIONS IN HIS ABILITY TO BE A STARTER AND STILL BECOME THE Q.B. HE WAS BEFORE HE GOT THE CONCUSSION? SOUNDS LIKE IT TO ME..PERSONALLY I DONT THINK CROYLE IS READY TO BE A STARTER AND ALL INDICATIONS ARE HE WILL NOT BE RIGHT AWAY ..AND THAT HUARD WILL BE THE STARTER..IF GREEN IS TRADED , HUARD IS STARTER AND HAPPENS TO GO DOWN FOR ANY REASON THEN THIS WHOLE GREEN SITUATION IS GONNA COME BACK TO HAUNT THE CHIEFS IF THEY LET HIM GO.WE MAY JUST BE LOOKING AT ONE OF THE TOUGHEST DECISIONS TO EVER BE MADE IN CHIEFS HISTORY HERE AND THE OUTCOME COULD RESULT IN DISASTER . ITS NOT LIKE GREEN IS ASKING FOR TOO MUCH HERE, I SAY KEEP HIM FOR ANOTHER YEAR.. LET HIM CALL SOME PLAYS ON THE SIDELINES AND GO IN THE GAME IF NEEDED .

I agree. From what I've seen of Croyle, he is not physicaly ready. He needs to bulk up and that could take a couple of years. Face it, Herm doesn't care. Trent is gone. Most of Trent's success has been because of other players, notably Priest Holmes and Tony Gonzalas, both soon to be gone too. Trent has done everything that has been asked of him in KC very well and deserves to get out on his terms. If that means that he ends up with the Raiders, then so be it. In terms of skill, he is not much better than Elvis Grbac... and what ever happened to him. The Gannon move was a mistake, but King Carl won't fret over that with $7m on the table. Trent is a great player and a smart one too. He knew going into his contract that without a Superbowl Win, he was never going to see the last 2 years pay. That's what the signing bonus is for. Good luck Trent.
