When you're the Super Bowl MVP, everybody wants you to do stuff. On Wednesday at the Colts' NFL Championship DVD release party in Indianapolis -- click here for the video -- Peyton Manning told reporters that he had to turn down tons of offers and appearances since winning the Super Bowl, but he did accept one. He's going to host Saturday Night Live on March 24.
"I figured this is my one shot to be asked," Manning told reporters. "The only thing I do well live is play football."
Which makes you wonder just how many takes those MasterCard and Sprint commercials required...
For the record, I looked high and low for a video of Joe Montana's infamous Sincere Guy Stu sketch, but it's been scrubbed off YouTube like everything else SNL. Regardless, I don't think we'll see a sequel to that one.

I think it's gonna be pretty darn funny. Tom Brady did very well. It seems whenever they have a football player on the show that the cast plays as a better team. It's fun to watch and I think it will be the same -- only better -- with Peyton Manning. His commercials make my wife laugh out loud. And that's saying something...

Oh me gosh - please don't show another picture of this square neck the next story you have on him. Peyton is definitely one of those athletes that look better with the helmet on. Yechhhh. I actually threw up a little in my mouth....

I think that it is funny and that he deserves it more than Tom Brady

Athlete's are almost never funny as host's on SNL, most of the comedy revolves around the host playing the straight man while the cast tries to overcompensate for their card-boardesque performance. Can't wait to see some sketches about how far Payton Manning can throw stuff. Perhaps university's could start requiring their most accomplished athletes to take a few improv classes.

I live in LA and just finished watching Peyton Manning on SNL. He did a great job. He went full out in his skits and monologue. Very funny in the locker room skit. Kudos Peyton!

Did the show have any refs or NFL officials on hand to help Peyton out when he forgot his lines?
