On most NFL teams, the punter is also the holder on field goals and extra points, and since they don't elect a Pro Bowl holder (now that would make for some intense voting), it's just assumed that the Pro Bowl punter will handle the holding duties in Hawaii. But there's a bit of intrigue with this year's Pro Bowl holding situation. (Seriously, no one has ever thought there was intrigue about anything related to the Pro Bowl, and now we're talking about intrigue with the Pro Bowl holder?) The NFC punter is Mat McBriar of the Dallas Cowboys, one of the few punters in the league who doesn't serve as his team's holder. Fortunately, the Cowboys' holder, quarterback Tony Romo, is also on the Pro Bowl roster.
Yes, Tony Romo said on NFL Network that he will hold again in Hawaii. The last time Romo was supposed to hold on a field goal, he botched it, costing the Cowboys a playoff game in Seattle. And now he's going to do it again.
As meaningless as the Pro Bowl is, I actually think this will be a good thing for Romo. I don't know if Romo will be the Cowboys' holder next year (finding a head coach is generally considered a higher priority than finding a holder), but if he is, it will probably help him to have done it in the Pro Bowl. The botched hold in Seattle will no doubt live with him for a long time, but at least for the rest of the off-season, it won't be the freshest hold in his mind.

I'm so happy he went to the Pro Bowl....I love Romo & I love the Cowboys!!! All you "Tony Homo" Fans who don't like him are just jelous because he's good for a new QB, he's good looking, rich, and plays for America's team. GO COWBOYS
He's an amazing QB and people need to get over the missed snap....HE'S HUMAN! He made a MISTAKE. It happened. It's time to move on. And he was the reason the NFC tied it in the Pro Bowl. Romo is by far the best NEW QB in the NFL.
