Colts tight end Ben Utecht wishes to (finally!) merge the worlds of professional football and Christian music. Utecht is heading to Nashville this off-season to chase his dream of becoming a Christian recording artist. I've never heard Ben Utecht sing, and my Christian music collection isn't quite as extensive as it could be (does God's Son count?), so I don't know what kinds of songs he sings. But I hope there are songs in his catalog entitled "Beelzebub, Much Like Todd Pinkston, Won't Go Over the Middle," and "Jesus Makes John Henderson Look Like a Sissified Punk."
Between Utecht and Tony Dungy, the Colts are the Godliest team in the NFL ... and given that the NFL is such a copycat league, it would not surprise me to see Mike Holmgren and Marvin Lewis become ordained ministers this off-season. I also think you'll see Ray Lewis become the champion of this league.

This is funny. It's like actors starting terrible bands. The little christian music that I've listened to has sucked anyway, so he might have a chance of doing okay in that niche.

Go Ben Go !!!! I believe the NFL could benefit by trying to duplicate the type of franchise the Indianapolis Organization has put together. In the words of Coach Dungy "there's not one of these young men (colts players) that you wouldn't want you son to be like" Good job fellas and congratulations!!!

I heard Utecht sing on a local post-Super Bowl show, and he's got a great voice.

Holy Donna Summer Batman. I'll settle for The Chairman of the Board or Old Blue Eyes Frank Sinatra over "Christian" music unless Ben sings "Battle Hymm of the Republic"

That comment on Pinkston is no longer accurate.
We are lucky that Peyton M. is not a god-junkie because we'd never hear the end of it.

Ben Utecht came and played piano and sang at my church, he's actually legit. He's got a shot.
