Now that we've all calmed down from the exciting news that Brett Favre will put off retirement ... again and return for a 17th season, there's the little issue of when (or if) the 37-year-old quarterback will have ankle surgery. It was originally scheduled for shortly after the Packers regular season ended December 31 but was postponed indefinitely.
"He might [still have ankle surgery]," [GM Ted] Thompson said. "I don't think anything's scheduled, but it's something that, like [head coach] Mike (McCarthy) explained earlier in the year, it's something that he's played with. But I think it's something that he might do. But if he does, I'm sure you'll know about it."I'm not a doctor, but this seems kind of important. Especially if Favre thought it was serious enough to address immediately after the season.
The good news -- well, for Favre, anyway -- is that whatever the state of his ankle, he probably won't participate in quarterback school and possibly even minicamp. In addition to giving Favre more time to prepare for the regular season, it will also allow backup Aaron Rodgers a chance to earn his paycheck since, in all likelihood, he won't sniff the field once the actual games start.

I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE STAYING FOR ANOTHER YEAR..ATLEAST...THE FANS HERE LOVE YOU...YOU ARE THE BEST....WITH AN 8 AND 8 SEASON THIS YEAR...NEXT YEAR WILL BE BETTER WITH YOU HERE....THANKS FOR STAYING...TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF IN THE OFF SEASON...CANT WAIT FOR SEPTEMBER...GOING TO BE A LONG FEW MONTHS.....
I wouldn't worry too much about Favre's ankle being a factor in his ability to play. This is something he's been playing with for several seasons already. If it was a factor, he would've had the surgery done several years ago. I'm sure he'll address it when he feels a need to do so. As it stands today, it's pretty much a non-issue and not worth writing about.
Good news for the bean counters and fans -- revenues and goose bumps prevail
Go Brett
Good choice Favre...now let's see if team management can make some good decisions in adding 1 or 2 players of experience to the team. Sorry Bubba, but GB needs a younger and more versitile TE, one that can make a differnece, kinda like a Dallas Clark. Favre's strongest numbers were when he through across the middle or shorts outs between 6 - 12 yards.
It made my day Friday when Favre said he would return for another year! He's still got it and I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back for the 2008 season. He's going to play as long as he physically can. Football is his life and always has been. The GM just needs to go all out and get Favre some weapons! A wide receiver, tight end, any good player who can catch Favre's bombs! GO FAVRE!
Brett you have made the best decision. As a life long Packer fan I am very happy you will be back.
The Packers are 3 key players away from returning to
the playoffs--a hard-hitting ball-hawking safety,
a versatile tight end and a fresh set of legs at running back with break away speed. The "O" line will demonstrate it is the best young unit in the NFL while Driver and Jennings will each surpass 1,200 receiving yards. Favre is the starter for two more
seasons and will go out a winner.
I am so excited that Bret is coming back and especially excited that "he" said he is excited to play again and with this group of young players. What a better mentor for these young players, he is such a down to earth kind of guy, there should be more professional players like him!!!!
Glad you are back. If the ankle is a problem fix it. If not we will not need to here about it. Most wins, touchdowns, most yardage, 3 more big records that will go down with a year like 06.But we can do better. Here's how. Pick up Randy Moss keep Driver, Jenning's.Get rid of Green, teach Morency how to hold on to the ball like Tiki Barber had to be taught.Use our first pick on a back.Get rid of Bubba.Use second pick on atight end. Use the rest for defense, but most important spend some of that money.YOU TIGHT ASSES
I love Bret Favre, but I am starting to think that his rein has gone on long enough. He should stay, but I think that he should just teach Rogers and give him a shot.

It's great to have Brett coming back. He is going to break all of Marino's records next season and be the No. 1 QB in the NFL. Driver and Jennings will be a great duo next season. We don't miss you Walker-stay with the Bronco's.!! With our improved defense(# 14) and a couple of tight ends and one running back in the off season Green Bay should win the division. Sorry Bears you will have to wait for the 2009 season.
GO PACK GO!!!!!!
